Oceans section in a Animal Kingdom?

I hope Disney / Animal Kingdom gets a section in the park educating people about how to save our oceans and the animal / plant life in it. I know there is the Living Seas at EPCOT but so much could be done to save our oceans. Plus, it would keep people on property instead of going to SeaWorld. James Cameron said one of the Avatar movies would ge about the oceans. Could they tie the movie with the land?

In short...no. We won't even get a proper Australia addition, so the oceans are right out.

I know there is the Living Seas at EPCOT but so much could be done to save our oceans.

That was the whole point of the Living Seas (and to a lesser extent, Horizons), but nobody wants that so they gutted it for Nemo.

Plus, it would keep people on property instead of going to SeaWorld.

Blackfish already did that; Sea World laid off more than 300 folks in Q4 of 2014.

Having an alien planet "land" showcased in a park to exhibit earth animals is a damn stupid idea. Might as well have Naboo-land hosted by Liam Neeson....at least Star Wars would draw more people than bloomin' blue cat people.

And there's always a bigger fish.

That's a very I teresting thought @DarthFiscus75 In all the years I've been going to AK, I never once thought about an ocean animal section. I'm a bit afraid of oceans and aquariums so maybe that's why. Dino's and almost mythical beasts, but no ocean? Hmmm. Maybe too much upkeep and too expensive?

But surely they already covered that with the Nemo show? ;)

I like the idea, but unless it's going to be done on a large scale then I think Seaworld is the better option.

I've long said there should be an Australia expansion. That could work as a hybrid land/sea land....Kangaroos, Koalas and a Barrier Reef. :joyfull:

Personally, I like the idea. Problem: considering the number of gripes you see about AK being "just" a zoo...i.e "If I wanted to see an aquarium, I'd stay home and save a lot of...blah, blah, blah...", I think adding more animals (the real kind) over AA's (the fake kind) will only tick off these folks who should probably go to Cedar Point anyway. It also seems that the aquarium at Epcot's The Seas is looking a little underpopulated these days. Given a choice, they'll probably try and add a little to Epcot first. It's cheaper to do.
I also would bet the griping and the already quite 'zooishness' of the place is what prevents the addition of an Australia or any other ecosystem/land. That and animals are just a hassle to care for, paperwork with licensing bodies and the fed, import and export laws, potential with bad pr from PETA etc. If you have everything "not real", the worst you get is a busted yeti and angry toursists.
"I ain't goin thar, it's a zoo dad-gummit! Where's that Elsa and Anna for Bobby June to see? and 'lil' Buford wants more coasters. Heck, IFIDAKNOWN it was a zoo, IDASTAYEDHOME!"

As much as I love large aquariums and could watch them all day, I would much rather see an Australia section like FettFan said. With the large variety of animals that are pretty much exclusive to Australia, it could be pretty cool. If they wanted to put an aquarium there to represent the Great Barrier Reef, that would be cool, as long as there was an area for the land animals too.

I don't think that putting in an oceans themed land is going to keep anyone from going to Sea World. A themed land, at most, would occupy about an hour of a guests day at the park. Sea World is a full day park with a LOT of things to do in it.

What type of animals would you put in the Australia land? Just curious - hadn't thought of it.

I for one love the animal aspect of ANIMAL KINGDOM...go figure. I think both animal exhibits and thrills can coexist side-by-side as they do now. If they ever did make an Australia I hope they do it better them they did Asia(animal-wise). They could have added a much beter selection of animals for Asia IMO.
If they build Australia they should have: Bandicoots, Wombats, Platypuses, Echidnas, Cassowaries, Numbats, Quokkas, Frilled Dragons, and Australian Water Dragons in addition to those listed above... I mean do it right! And build an aviary 3x larger than the others for all Australia's beautiful birds!

An Australian area is long overdue.
Disney shouldnt even try copying a Sea World by adding more oceanic park attractions. Stick with the exotic animal exhibits...thats what draws the crowds to AK. I never see guests crowd the fish areas in EP. Its the exotic animals that mystify and excite the kids and adults.

The Living Seas has plenty of fish, but AK could do a section on seals, walruses, beluga, narwhals, polar bears, and maybe those other sea animals, birds, like penguins, albatross, puffins, etc. Oh, those are all already visible at Sea World. Well, maybe I'll just go spend some time over there, instead of at Disney World.

I really would love to see a ocean based section of the AK. This would be a great time to bring back the ideas that went into the original sea-base alpha. Something similar to the wild arctic at sea world (but not a simulator) where the ride is part of the journey to exhibits. You could also have a couple rides of different types to get you there and also bring back a version of the hydrolators as nod to the original for the people that don't want/can't ride to get there. Something like this would be the ultimate for me. If it happened and they did it up right, I might be able to spend an entire day in just that area.
