I'm just super glad this isnt happening a week later... While it would be cool to have the president there at the same time as me, it would ROYALLY stink to have months of planning go down the drain because they decided on an impromptu Disney trip. .. I would LOVE to see fireworks at the studios, though! :)

While I believe that everyone deserves to be at Disney, whether a public figure or not, the headaches this causes is crazy. If his family does come with him and stick around I hope they are able to have a great time. Im just glad Im not down there.

Well at least for just a few hours on Thursday. Pam said you guys might be there that day so I wished her the best of luck. :lookaroun
If the president is only going to be there on Thursday then I should be fine. I thought that he was going to be there for longer than a single day.

I can't remember the site I saw it on, but it seems that he is pretty much getting there to make a speech and then will be on his way. He is arriving at MCO around 11 and leaving somewhere around 2. If I find that info again, I will post it.

Good luck to all that are down there. In October there was a democratic convetion held at the Contemporary and we were unfortunately staying there at that time. The security and rerouting of traffic made it a nightmare to get to back to the CR. That Friday night the convention started it took us at least 50 minutes for the bus to go from the MK toll booths to the CR bus stop :brick: and Obama was not even there! I cannot imagine the security details required for Obama to visit.

Ha, I was leaving EPCOT about the time he got to the convention center. They held us on the monorail for a good thirty minutes before we got clearance to move again.

It'll be interesting to see if the speech is given in-park or in just one of the ballrooms.

From how much they've rerouted stuff, my guess is that the family will spend the day there while O may just join them for a few quick things (POTC, HM, etc)

(Hope he doesn't see his attempted likeness in HOP.:dazzle::brick:)

LMAO...My post was deleted for saying they are always on vacation??? Seriously??? In what way is that political?

It led to others pointing out how it was a bad thing and then comparing it to other presidents. My experience as a moderator shows that usually leads to a complete change in topic down that path.

So my flight is due in at 10am and I saw on the sentinel that the President is expected to arrive at 11:40am at MCO airport. My question is: Will Magical Express still be running normally or will it be halted as I am assuming he would use the same route that ME uses to get the the World. Also, will MK fill to capacity that day? And if so, will Annual Passholders still be allowed in? Just wondering if I need to make other plans as I had planned on visiting the MK after we checked into BLT since its only a quick walk away.

From what I gather, Main St. will be shut down for a few hours with Guests being diverted backstage. Similar to Christmas parade taping.

From the Sentinel article:

"Air Force One is expected to land at Orlando International Airport at 11:40 a.m. Thursday and the president's motorcade will take him directly to Disney World. He will leave Central Florida less than three hours later, at 2:15 p.m."

Counting travel to and from the airport it looks like he may be in Disney for 1.5 hours to 2 hours tops.
