Interesting. I went here - "http://www.wdwmagic.com/walt-disney-world-history.htm" and did a search on Bush. I thought I remembered Dubya being in the parks during his presidency, but I must be wrong. However, it looks like HW was in EPCOT in 1990 - "President George Bush visited Epcot Center agriculture experiments at The Land and manatee exhibit at The Living Seas" and 1991 - "Sept. 30,President Bush at Epcot Center for speech to 575 Daily Points of Light, first gathering of the outstanding community service volunteers." I loved EPCOT during that time period. I wonder if he was just coming up with reasons to get in?

I heard O'Bama would be at the Magic Kingdom. Somewhere in Liberty Square. Sorry, I couldn't get any more details than that, but I'd check out the Hall of Presidents if I were you.

Yeah I was just wondering if any other presidents have been to WDW?

Is this Disneys answer to Harry Potter? :ROFLOL:

Seriously though, this will give WDW a lot of free press!

If this is in fact true, this must present a security/ logistical nightmare for the Secret Service. Is there precedent for a sitting President visiting WDW while other guests were in the park? I can't think of any from my lifetime, which admittedly only goes back as far as the Reagan administration.

My father, who was ex special forces way back in the day, long before Reagan was president just happened to be at Epcot the same day that Reagan came for that visit back in 1985. He had so much fun pointing out the plain clothes security and secret service guys to my, now ex stepmother. He loved being around that kind of event. Oddly enough, he seemed to mysteriously find himself in those situations quite a bit. He said it was just a fluke, but I have my suspicions that it might have been more than that.

Should be interesting. I have read on another site that the President may possibly be speaking at the Comteporary Resort. It just so happens I am arriving at Bay Lake Tower Thursday and am wondering if check-in and such will be the same or what will happen if he indeed is going to be there. I am still hoping to catch the Electrical Parade at MK Thursday night since it is going dark for awhile while Frontierland undergoes some concrete work.

If that is true I have to wonder: Has any sitting president ever spoken at the Contemporary since Nixon's "I'm not a crook" speech?

I suppose the changes make more sense now if he will actually be in the park. By offering EMH at each of the other parks (AK Morn, EP and DHS Evening) then you give non-park hopping people incentive to go elsewhere. The addition of a special night time show at DHS with Fantasmic dark will provide even more incentive.

I don't know if he went into any of the parks, but I was at WDW in February 2006 when George Bush happened to be coming to the Contemporary. It was a huge pain getting from MK back to Beach Club that day.

Anyway, I'm happy to see a Studios fireworks show planned.

It's not all roses to have any president or vice president go to a vacation spot...While at Cape Cod during the 90's, we had several whole areas shut down due to Al Gore being on a beach or in a town. Really cramps your vacation. I hope that this would not happen at WDW.

We were at EPCOT yesterday afternoon when a helicopter very similar to Marine One flew over World Showcase and lake, heading towards the Magic Kingdom. Advance work for Thursday's visit? Sorry I didn't get to take a picture, but the helicopter was low enough to read "United States of America" on the side and was weird to see flying over the middle of a park.

I would love to see a fireworks show like the old one they did at that park before Fantasmic came along! I loved the fireworks set to all the movie theme music! I think that is part of the reason I have never been thrilled with Fantasmic as I thought the old fireworks were far better with the huge blow up Sorcerer Mickey at the end. :)
