With the number of members on here for a love of pizza and hot dogs, I was wondering what you guys prefer in both categories....NY style pizza and dogs/sausages or Chicago style, or one of each?

Let us know and tell us if you think the parks should sell this wonderful fare. ;)

Anyone from western NY can tell you they both get it wrong. Pizza in buffalo is the best. The dough is delicious so you're glad there's more of it but its still a pick up and eat pizza. And no pizza is complete without wings, which luckily are available everywhere.

NEW YORK (north Jersey) for pizza and dogs. You haven't lived til you've had a Rutt's ripper.

I've enjoyed too much Malnati's and Giordano's to not vote for my favorite deep dish Chicago style pizza. I have never had a hot dog in NY but I love a big juicy, topping laden Chicago style dog as well. You didn't poll this but a good Italian beef from the Wondy City is like heaven as well.

I have to admit I like a good Sicilian style pizza best, but thin crust is better than deep dish although any decent tasting pizza is good. I really don't get the Chicago dog at all.

Chicago all the way. And WDW should NOT bother to attempt Chicago-style deep dish pizza. I've had too many "Chicago-style" pizzas outside of the Chicagoland area, and they have all been travesties.

That being said, maybe I haven't had decent Chicago style pizza. I withhold judgment. Is there any true Chicago-style pizzas outside of the Chicago-land area?

Lou Malnati's offers Lou To Go. They will ship it on dry ice. It's not the same as having it piping hot at the pizza joint but if you've only had importers it's probably enough to make you a believer.

With those prices, I'll wait until I"m in Chicago. I've got great pizza around here and if it changed my opinion it would be an expensive habit and I would prefer to stay married.

I don't blame you. I choose my battles as well. If you travel by air and see an Uno's in the food court of an airport it offers a semi-decent Chicago style. Many try to duplicate it but there is nothing like the real thing. This thread is making me hungry!

First off...I think the comparison between NY and Chicago pizza to be like comparing apples to oranges. Both are so different IMO that it's unfair to actually pit one against the other.

Having grown up outside of NYC and having several friends born and raised in the Chicago area, the pizza you grow up with is kind of how you're hard wired. i.e. I grew up learning pizza to be NY style pizza...so when you ask me about pizza, it's the first image conjured in my brain. My Chicago friends would say the exact same thing except that their minds think Chicago style first.

I truly like Chicago style pizza, but if given a choice...I will take a good NY style pizza any day. And I stress "good"- because there are sadly so many subpar NY style pizzas out there.

As for dogs...I've never really thought of them as Chicago vs. NY. Then again...I'm kind of a dirty water dog gal. Just give me a real Sabrett's hot dog with some mustard and sauerkraut and I'm a happy girl.
