I was under the impression that Chicago pizza was deep dish and New York pizza was thin and soggy.

So...what is a thin and crispy pizza?

Whit ! I wish I knew what they were all about. Love thin crust pizza from New York, (1972 ) love my dogs from "Pinks" in Los Angeles, ( 2001 ) ;)
We hit Pinks in 2010 during our trip to the Land!! When we arrived, the was a short line. After we parked and walked around the building, the line have grown 10 fold!! Great dogs and atmosphere for sure!!

We are gunna head to NYC sometime in '13 to see our new found Disney kin (met them at Le Cellier and dined with them again at BoG). They are gunna give us a real tour of the city. Hope to hit the best pizzerias and delis in the town!!

New York Pizza is the best ever hands down, IMHO and sausages (with peppers and onions NY style) is a major staple in my household!!! The best hot dog I ever had, actually was at Yankees stadium, however, Casey's in MK was JUST as good!!
What pizza joint takes the prize? Have heard raves about Lombardi's, but have also heard that is where the tourists go and it is nothing special. Would also like to hear your take on Coney Island and its dogs. DW and at least 1 DD will go shopping while the other DD and I will experience food all that NYC has o offer.

There are a slew of awesome places along Mulberry Street and Canal St. Lombardis is good, (havent been there in a while though) If you really like italian food in general you should check out Angelos on Mulberry Street. Coney Island hot dogs are good? however, as much as I love hot dogs, they dont like me LOL but sausage, peppers and onion sandwiches are my forte ;)

Not a huge hot dog dude here either, but would have to be able to say I went to Coney Island for a dog. Heard that many of the street vendors have good dogs as well. Angelo's is now on my list!

Actually had that Lou malnati's pizza last night at my sister in laws (they live in a Chicago suburb) it was okay pizza, it needed more cheese and a little more spice for me. So I will go for New York style, I like the thin crust and gooey cheese better.

I have had hot dogs at Yankee Stadium (old Yankee staduim) - I still don't like Casey's dogs. Put some pork in the things, then we can talk.

If you go to Coney Island, then you are going to Nathan's - which is the original hot dog.

If you are buying a hot dog from a vendor in Manhattan, then you are getting a Sabrette hot dog (made in good 'ol NJ and you can buy them in bulk right from the plant - if that's the kind of party you are having).

Nathan's dogs are all beef and are cooked on a roller grill or flattop.

Sabrette pushcart dogs are all beef natural casing dogs and are held in hot water (hence the term "dirty water dog").

The correct way to eat either is with mustard and sauerkraut. :) (I'll give you onions in sauce on a Sabrette if you want)

While in NYC be sure to eat a bagle. You can argue about what regions hot dog or pizza is best, but all have their merits. I have yet to encounter a bagle outside of the greater NYC area that is not pure garbage.

Someone please describe Chicago pizza and dogs
I'm a Jersey boy never knew there was a difference

Chicago deep dish pizza is like what you can get at Pizzera Uno (there used to be one in Paramus on Rt 4, but it closed and turned into a Chuck-E-Cheese - that should tell you something)

A Chicago hot dog has a LOAD of stuff on it. If I recall, it is a beef hot dog, in a bun with seasame seeds. It is topped with neon green relish, a pickle spear, sport peppers (like pepperocini), and celery salt. I may have miss a few ingredients in there as well.
