You ever get a third and final notice in the mail?

When you didn't receive the first or second notices?

Yeah... I just got a third and final notice via email... something from my car insurance company stating "if we do not receive your annual vehicle inspection results within 48 hours, your coverage will be terminated." Y'know, a nastygram of sorts. So I'm on my way across Orlando to Winter Park to the only garage open on Sunday that can do an insurance inspection.

This is really obnoxious, that on a sunday which I had only planned to go to WDW for a few hours, I gotta hve my car inspected.

I have something similar happen to me. When something is too large for my mailbox, the post office will put a slip in my box letting me know that I need to go to the post office to pick up a package. I never receive the first two, but I all of a sudden get a "FINAL NOTICE." If you do not pick up your package by tomorrow it will be returned to sender. And the date on the slip is not the day it appeared in my mailbox. I always get it a week after the date they claim they put it there. It's so annoying.

Well, they could have sent the first two via regular mail to mkt's old house--he said the third and final one was by e-mail. Either way, that is really awful.

Yeah, that's really weird... :lookaroun If it were in Brazil, I would say that it was a trick from the garage to make you inspect your car sooner, and make more money. But anyway, I hope you manage to get your car isnpected...

You have to do an annual inspection? Who insures your car?

Esurance. I'm not sure if they meant annual, since when I called them they said it was only a one time deal, but the email said annual. It's because I got a new car 2 weeks ago.

I'm not sure how it is in FL...but in MA...you need to have your car inspected once for insurance reasons...but yearly for the state inspection.

Insurance Inspection: To see if there is any damage prior to the coverage starting.

State Inspection: To see if the car is safe to drive on the streets.

They said the first notice was verbally when I added the Highlander to the policy, and the second one was mailed PO Box in Windermere. Well, I was never told when I added it to the policy, and I never received anything from them at my PO Box.

Either way, I passed the inspection with flying colors and had some good mexican food across the street from the garage, so all is well.

I think Esurance meant annual, since due to my driving record (which has been clear for 3 years and 1 month now), I had to have annual inspections done in the past. I think that since my policy took effect just before the 3 year cutoff (it ended in november, I renewed with the Monty in early October), their records still show I have to get annual inspections.

Then again, my insurance will be going down a LOT come April, the 6 month cutoff.

In the UK the annual inspection is called the MOT it is far more rigid than any test I have seen in the states, and for a car costs about $70 - $80 just for the test, never mind all the petty things that you have to get fixed after the test. Thre are lots of dishonest test stations who will fail a car for being the wrong colour  Fortunately I have a friend in the trade, so he takes it to a station he can trust.
