Not Trying To Be A Grammar Nazi, But...

I work in an elementary school. Which means I hear and see very interesting things done with english all the time. Currently, one thing is really getting on my nerves. The kids do not ask permission to do things properly. Their questions usually go like this: "I can go to the bathroom?" "I can pass out the papers?" These are not questions. They are STATEMENTS! I don't expect the kids to always say, "May I?" But, at least start with, "Can I....?"

I was going to side with Bob and was going to explain why until I saw the napkin to the left. It doesn't say Walt Disney World or Disney World, it has Disney Parks as a title of the entity. I never noticed that before. If they are now using Disney Parks interchangeably with Disney World, then it could be a collective noun. If they are using Disney Parks for all the parks around the world, then we're back to the original observation.
I wish they would cut out Disney Parks altogether and go back to calling them Walt Disney World, Disneyland Resort, and so on...
Disney Parks to me just sounds cheesy, and doesn't contain the epicness & majesty of WDW or DLR.

I wonder how much longer it will be before we hear:
Announcer: "Aaron Rodgers, you've just won the Super Bowl...what are you gonna do next?
Aaron: "I'm going to Disney Parks!"
o_O:rolleyes:

I always insisted on "May I" actually. If they said "Can I go to the lav, I'd tell them I really didn't know. Most of them didn't get it.

Let's be honest, our problem is not with grammar but with Disney Parks. I didn't just visit Disney Parks - I visited WALT DISNEY WORLD. I didn't label my album full of pictures on facebook, "Our family vacay to Disney Parks!" - No, that's ridiculous... and so is Disney Parks!
I love you & this response! I think that is the core of my original complaint. Everything about "Disney Parks" just sounds ridiculous.

"Surprise, kids, we're going to Disney Parks!!!"

“To all who come to this happy Disney Parks; welcome. Disney Parks is your parks. Here age relives fond memories of the past...and here youth may savor the challenge and promise of the future. Disney Parks is dedicated to the ideals, the dreams and the hard facts that have created America...with the hope that it will be a source of joy and inspiration to all the world.”
