not crazy about all the Halloween decor. Am I the only one?

I've been looking at photos of all the Halloween decorations, mainly at the entrance and on Main Street. I think it just ruins such a magical view. We don't get to go to WDW often at all but was hoping to plan a trip for next October because of the nicer weather and lower crowd numbers. But now I'm not so sure that I want maybe my last trip to the Magic Kingdom to not look like the Magic Kingdom. We went to the Halloween Party years ago, 2002, and I don't think that all the place was decorated all day. I remember them setting up decorations during the late afternoon of the days of the Parties.

I'm probably in the minority but, am I?

But I also remember having a great time at the Party.

I think that the Halloween decorations are my favorite part of Mk other than christmas. I would not go in a different time a year. Unless we had no other choice.

what halloween decorations? i was there this past weekend and was disappointed at how unhalloween it felt

We went three years ago and as I remember, the full effect wasn't until MNSSHP got rolling. Main St. was the only part that had much going on at other times, but at the after party they busted out mist, colored lights, extra effects at the HM and the parades and fireworks.

The HM had all their CMs in death makeup, there was an actor working the queue from the front lawn, mist was flowing down the lawn, there were spooky lights in the solarium on the side of the building.

Other effects were spooky lights on top of PotC, trick or treat spots everywhere, mist coming up from the Liberty Bell (it was a trick or treat spot), There where also blowup figures spread out over the park, ghosts, etc.

I enjoy the decorations, be it for Halloween, Christmas, or whatever else the current celebration happens to be.

I think it gives the parks a more festive vibe than usual, and vacation memories are even more special when they're tied to something unique and time of year specific.

And with Main Street specifically, I think it add another layer of realism that it changes with the season, just like a "real" town main street would.

I was there for MNSSHP.. I'm an avid horror nights goer and MNSSHP was a major let down. I felt like there should have been halloween music throughout, maybe characters walking around. I never felt immersed in halloween at any point of the night.

Yep you are the only one. I love Halloween at WDW and I wish they would do more. Despite the negative spin some people try to stick on Halloween it runs neck and neck with Christmas in my book.

You're not alone. While I think it looks like in photos and video when they decorate for Halloween and Christmas, I like my Magic Kingdom to be classic when I'm there.

I've been during Halloween and Christmas in the last 2 years. It was novel for a day, but then I wanted my beloved Main Street back. I especially wanted the classic MSUSA music on January 3 when they were playing NO music the day we were there

Agreed! I truly love both and it would be hard to pick which I like better.

I love the Halloween decorations, especially at night on Main Street. The jack-o-lanterns are all lit up, and they make you think of a small town celebrating Halloween. Soooo wonderful...

if you want to skip the fall or christmas decorations but want better weather go in january. it's still value season, all the decorations are down, plus the crowds and temps are far better than in the fall. for instance this week the high temps here (2.5 hours north of florida) are into the low 90s so you may enjoy the weather more in january.
