Hi everyone!

Just to let you know that the site is now back after a slightly longer than expected downtime for a server move. There may still be some intermittant outages whilst the DNS settings propogate worlwide.

For anyone who is interested in hardware type things, here is the new home of WDWMAGIC. :)

A lot of people are still not able to get back in. Is there something they should try? They are pretty frustrated LOL

Steve, we are all a bunch of junkies  If you had seen us this week, you would have been laughing your $@# off.

Thanks, I was one of the one's stuck on the outside- and freaking out from withdrawl the last two days. But everything seems to be incredibly slow loading- the message board, the site, everything (though other web sites work just fine.) Anyone else experiencing similar problems? And will I ever be able to use the old IP again? :veryconfu

Cool Steve!

Hey,..for us geeks, give us some of the specs!

What servers ar those? ( Dell? )
How big are the drives? ( w/Raid5?...are the servers clustered?)
I see two NIC's per server. Two different networks? ( blue -yellow)
How big is the Forum DB? ( Is is SQL?)
How much bandwidth does your provider give you?
How much traffic do we average a day in MegaBytes?

Very cool!! That server is faaaar from me in Miami. I'm counting 23 routers away from my PC!

( looks like these pix were taken before the KVM switch was plugged in.)

The color-coding of the jacks looks like Dell.
There appears to be three 1U boxes and three 3U boxes, though the bottom 3U box appears to be of a different model. Maybe the bottom box is a SAN or just a disk enclosure and the 1U box above it is just the head unit?
Are the redundant links/redundant hubs into the same router, or do they have parallel paths further out the line?
Yes, it appears that there is no KVM there, but I don't see redundant power there, either. And I don't see any UPS there, though probably either the PDU there is plugged into a UPS down below, or the whole room/building is on a RUPS.

And as a side note, I'm just getting partial resolution right now. I can get www.wdwmagic.com and forums.wdwmagic.com, but not photoalbums.wdwmagic.com. I'd think that they would have propagated out together?

Wow....I never knew it took so much hardware to run a site this size...why does it take what looks like 6 different servers to run this site? Is it really THAT big?

By the way, I'm jealous!!!!

I'm SO glad wdwmagic is back! :D

Yes they are Dell, well spotted! :)
There are various drive configurations in the cluster, generally 3 15,000 rpm 18GB, RAID 5.
2 VLANS, 1 runs the public facing side, 1 runs the private/cluster side.
DB is around 1.3GB
Traffic is around 75GB per day across all wdwmagic sites.
The bandwidth is a dedicated 10MB link.

LOL yeah they are far from you there in Miami, all the way over here in England. :)

Good spot on the dell! :)

The mulitple boxes form a load balanced cluster, with external storage and mail server.

Redundancy on public link takes place further up stream outside of that cabinet.

Building is UPS'd :)

Yeah the partial propogation is odd, I havnt experienced that kind of issue before. Things seem to be ironing themselves out though (slowly).
