We are arriving in Orlando on December 16th but staying OFF PROPERTY in a timeshare. I was wondering if the Disney Resorts allow people from off the proprty to eat in the resorts? I think it will be a nice prelude before MVMCP that night. I plan on taking the family to Pop Century around 2pm for lunch then driving to the Magic Kingdom for MVMCP. Is it possible to eat lunch at Pop Century if I am not staying at a Disney resort?

It's usually not a problem. Just tell the guard at the security booth you are there to eat. They will give you a 3 hour pass, after which you are subject to (but rarely, if ever) being towed.

Seriously ... I've traveled all over the country, and I've never heard of a hotel that didn't allow non-guests to dine in their restaurants.

Disney would love to earn money from you.

We do this all the time as we live here in Orlando. Never have we been turned away. Only one time it was a problem because the Boardwalk parking lot was already full so the security guard told us to go over to the Yacht and Beach Club and walk back over to ESPN from there.

Enjoy the grub!

You can - like others have said.. just tell the gate you are going to the food court.

But I don't know why you would want to go there to eat. Its crowded, its loud, and its just a food court.

VERY GOOD QUESTION. :xmas: This our first time staying off property and I felt it would be nice to get into the Disney spirit by visiting Pop Century- we have a little boy who would enjoy the setting more so than the Grand Floridian. As for the loudness-we would enjoy that. Truthfully, I LOVE the food court at Movies and Pop Century- its somewhat reasonable and have a large selection. The alternative is to visit the Worlds largest McDonalds for a few hours before Magic Kingdom.

Yes- the McDonalds there never gets any talk on many disussion boards. McDonalds is open 24hours I am sure we there will be many late nights at that McDonalds. Though, I see they have Bistro food which seems interesting- I will see how the family feels.. which would most families prefer for off-property lunch on the 1st day: Worlds Largest McDonalds or Pop Century Food Court?

Actually the question has become null and void. Our hotel room will probally not be ready when we get there at noon so we will early check in and leave. The plans have changed to go to Downtown Disney (only to World of Disney store) for a few hours and also have lunch there. I hope our room is ready though so we can relax and sleep before the Christmas Party.

Just out of curiosity, of all the amazing places to grab some food at Disney, why choose the Pop Century food court? Is there a particular item you love on the menu or something?

For me- its hard to change what I am used to. I am used to arriving at the Disney hotel and eating in the food court. Yes, I love the food courts- the chicken tenders, burgers, are very good. However, I have realized that the time would be better spent at Downtown Disney.

Ahhh, a creature of habit. :animwink:

Yeah I'd definitely go with DTD too. Lots more eating choices there, especially on West Side. :D

Well, then, let me make THIS suggestion...

go to Downtown Disney, and unless you're absolutely starving and must eat that nanosecond (it could happen), take one of the water launches to one of the launch accessible Disney resorts (my choices, in order, would be Port Orleans Riverside, Port Orleans French Quarter, then Saratoga, then Old Key West. You'll get a little time at DTD, you'll get a little time with that Disney resort vibe, you get a nice little ride on the water launch, all good all around.
