Non-Disney interests

Sorry if this has been covered before. I DID do a search but nothing came up :animwink:

I was just curious to know what people's interests are other than Disney.

For me, it's

1. Animal rescue:sohappy: I have always been an animal lover!

2. Art. Lately I've been doing watercolor-pastel mixes and acrylic murals.

and

3. Child sponsorship- VERY important given the rate of child trafficking across the world.

What is everyone else into? I know music is a biggie on this board.

When I'm not here, or taking care of my family (and their multiple pets) I'm:

1. baking cookies ;)

2.I've been actively selecting books for my son's school's Book Fair for the past few years. It's aprivate school, so I have more leeway in choice than someone doing it at a public school. I read as many as possible, work closely with both the school librarian and a county librarian, read catologues, and read internet reviews.

3.I love to work in my garden...it's year round down here!

The past few months have been devoted to caring for my late father, and helping my daughter choose a college (visits, paperwork, etc) I'm hoping I can get back to "fun" things like needlepoint, quilting, etc. I also spend a lot of time volunteering at my son's school, and helping out at church.

I admire your patience :animwink:

I tried needlepoint. It went something like this: Stitch, stitch, throw it down, go to the kitchen, get cookies. Stitch, stitch, throw it down, go to the kitchen, get ice cream. Stitch, stitch, throw it down, call up a couple of friends on the phone. Stitch, stitch, several very large, ugly stitches-- throw it down-- I'M DONE!!!

Sigh.

I am definitely a big animal lover too!
For the most part I enjoy amusement/theme parks (especially roller coasters), playing volleyball (I played in college and miss it so much since graduating last May!) and reading...I have recently become a big time reader! Also, soon enough I will also be pretty interested in school books again! In Jan I plan to go back to school for Nursing...the business world is pure hell in my eyes, I took the wrong path in college!

Disney is my biggest intrest that is not work related, but here it goes

1) American Sign Lanuage

2) Issues related to children and therapy.

3) Gardening, and fixing up our house (not work related!)

4) Playing with my 1 year old!!!! (also not work related!!!)

5) Tried cross stitch last year, my huband got hooked on it (pun intended!) but he is better at it then me. Ericka your discribtion is funny (but soooo true!!!)

Mr. PhD's interest are somewhat different and I can't speak for him (but often do!!!)

Hmm...

Writing poetry and any other jumbles that come to my head (see my website for some not so recent samples). Writing also saves me tons on therepy.. well if Adrienne had her way about it (my best friend who says my poetry is wayyyy too depressing).

Reading ... most anything that looks interesting. :) I read a lot.. As a writer I've been told the best advice anyone can give me is to read.

Beading, when I have the time and patience. I like designing jewelry.

Theatre, I love musicals and plays. (Especially Phantom of the Opera and Rent and Aida)

I would have to say.....

1.Going to movies, I'm also a movie buff.
2.Playing sports (baseball and basketball are my favorites.)
3.Watching my Chicago Cubbies(haven't had much good to watch in my first 23 years)

Oh well the price you pay for loving a team that hasn't won a World Series in mine or my Grandparents lifetime

1. Art is one of my bigest interests. Leaving for RSAD 8/12/02 :D

The rest of my interests are really extensions of or diferent type of art...

2. Music. Love listening to it...wish I could make it. :(

3.Toys. Action figures mainly...they're little sculptures really. :D

Bahhhh thats it...guess I'm not well rounded...unless sleeping counts.

Nice thread, since there are members who needlepoint and quilt...(sorry, couldn't resist).

1. Playing with the ol' computer, especially working with graphics (high learning curve, limited time to sit down with it) and trying to do stuff with digital video.

2. Movie buff, especially the classics and anything with good special effects (and some not so good ) .

3. Biking (the type you pedal).

4. Target shooting. Not to worry, animal lovers: never been a hunter, never will be. Bambi is safe from me! In fact, we love watching the deer come into my neighbors backyard for their favorite apple tree.

5. And last but not least, spending money on my family!:sohappy:

Let´s see.... when I´m not working, I´m attached to my internet... got hooked after having a bf in another country :( ;)

I like travelling and not precisely to Disney (don´t hit me... I love seeing new places!)

I enjoy watching tv, people and arts and the history channel are my favorite ones ;)

I do crosswords and I´m good at that kind of games, like Scrabble which I would play if people would play it with me... hehe

I like going to the movies a lot, and also love musicals and theater shows, Phantom of the Opera being my favorite one.

I like cooking.... when someone else cleans the mess, hehe...

I don´t have any artistic hobbie like stitching or drawing or things like that... my mom is very good for that! I didn´t get that talent, I´m more of a nerd... *shrug*
;)

TONS!

Alright, ready, set go:

National Honor Society, Student Council (I'm president BTW), Show Choir, Church, SURVIVOR!, TV News, NBC, MSNBC, CNNHN, Rollercoasters, my Palm Pilot, Starbucks, Reading, Journalism, Cheerleaders, collecting TV news music, Baseball, Basketball, Soccer, Golf, Tennis, and more recently curling, BMW's, eating, sleeping...

Give me time to think of some more.

DMC-12

It's HarmonioUS, NOT HarmoniYOU.
other than Disney...Hmmmmmmmmmm

1) DeLorean.. the car: DMC-12, gullwings, brushed stainless steel, dual exhuast..only 6000 left in existance..Drooool.. I just set up all my Delorean stuff I have collected in the past few years, in my new place...and it takes up 1 large whole bookcase...LOL

2) Broadcasting. Equipment. I have a CD player that most top radio stations use...sells for $1,500.00 new, I got mine on eBay for 200...lol...best sound on earth and well worth the investment.

So audio gear...and cars...oh yeah and Disney stuff...:)
