A quick note...

On Memorial Day - a very busy day - The Mainstreet Bakery was closed in the afternoon and evening. Very sad.

Also, the Fountainview Cafe at Epcot was closed though a 45min line stretched around Character Connection next door and people flocked to he potties adjacent to it in droves.

I heard several other people commenting about the odd closure of both prominent locations.

Does Disney have something against us getting a cinnamon bun or a creme brule after 12 o'clock? Heaven forbid there be coffee after brunchtime :P

This may seem a bit minor - but Disney really need to have 2 prominent pastry locations shuttered regularly? Can't they do something...?

And before someone says "go somewhere else" I'll point out that the line at France for pastries was well out the door using both sides. The area had also run out of seating.

im just curious, do you work or anything, or do you just spend every day at epcot or another park?

just wondering.
Maybe the answer is "yes" to both. :lookaroun

And by the way -- boo for not being able to get a Mickey-eared gingerbread man to munch on while watching spectromagic!

actually the main street bakery will reopen for full hours in 2 weeks again. This is only something that is temporary closing in the afternoon.

Actually, over the last four years or so, I can't remember the last time I've seen the Fountainview even open.

FountainView was open every day (until it closed for the Food and Wine Festival last fall) but it closed at around 3pm, so it's quite possible that everytime you walked by it was late afternoon. But it was most definitely open last year, as I spent many a morning eating a muffin and people watching from there. I hope it opens again soon...

Oh a side note, would it really be that much of a bother to the Main Street to bring back the vanilla Mickey bundt cakes? They are one of my absolute favorite things to eat at the parks, and last year sometime they disappeared. :(

The Main Street Bakery is closing at 3:00 p.m. every day until June 3. The reason I am not sure why but it probably has something to do with the construction inside to convert the old Arribas Brothers location into extra seating. After June 3, the bakery will resume normal hours. As for Fountainview, I am not sure why Disney doesn't like to keep that place open long hours.

Why would anyone want to eat the pastries Disney serves in the parks anyway? They're really not very good, particularly the creme brulee. They really have no business serving creme brulee unless they're going to burn the tops as they are ordered. The topping really doesn't hold up well after an hour or so.

The construction is done... and has been for a little while now. The reason for the 3pm closing is due to a shortage of staff.

These labor comments are the best I can tell rumors from other sites. I'd like to hear some details that counter why some think its labor, while others claim to have a SPECIFIC date when it will resume normal hours.

Labor as a cause has been a speculation at best from what I've seen.
