No July 4 fireworks for the Studios, and schedule of Epcot and MK shows

That's a shame. And it doesn't sound like they can blame it on slow attendance based on recent crowd levels....

Nope...but they can blame it on no money...since large crowds does NOT equal large income. They have way too many fireworks shows as it is...and considering fireworks aren't exactly great for the environment I'm not too disappointed in this decision.

Not showing July 4th fireworks at MK on July 3rd isn't a big deal. They only started doing it earlier this decade and I always thought it was a bit weird.

But not showing any pyro at all at TPFKaTD-MGMS on July 4th is a HUGE deal. This would be the first time in its history that's happened. And it will likely push people to MK and EPCOT.

Guess this is part of the park's 20th anniversary celebration.

It will certainly be a huge change for the studios this July 4th. However the studios in it's current form is not set up for fireworks. Launching fireworks at the studios requires closing down the back half of the park and now with Pixar Place this is something Disney would obviously be reluctant to do. This is why for Grad Nights at the studios this year they decided not to launch fireworks from within the park but instead set up temporary launch sites behind the park on world drive. This resulted in closing world drive in both directions for well over an hour. While this was an ideal solution for grad nights, it would not work on July 4th. Closing a major WDW road for over an hour during the July 4th crowds would not be a good idea.

I’m not saying I am happy that the studios will not be having a fireworks presentation this year. I’m just offering a little insight as to why this decision was made.

I know, but they do New Years fireworks December 30th and 31st. It's just a nice touch in case people can't get in on the 4th of July or December 31st.

Well..we don't know that yet...this is the first time they've cut the 3rd show. We might be seeing a new year celebration only on the 31st as well...

With the deals, no fireworks at DHS, and no July 3rd show, MK is going to be insane and EPCOT even busier. There will also be a very large number of people missing out altogether. I'm wondering if they considered what cutting a show during a pivotal time would do on potential attendance...granted, lower attendance lowers resource requirements all across the board...

Seriously?? Its the 4th of July and these special shows are only once a year. Why not just do it? I really think Disney can afford to do a show this size just once a year.

No DHS fireworks or MK on the 3rd makes me upset.

Bit of a blow there being no show at MK on the 3rd. Was great being able to see two 4th july shows, we used to do that show at MK and then Epcot on the 4th.

Yeah, we've done that too. Not our favourite time of year to go, so we probably wouldn't go again at that time (the AMAZING Epcot show notwithstanding), but I'm sure we're not the only ones who did MK on the 3rd and Epcot on the 4th.

Couldn't they just launch them from the Fantasmic stage? While that would be weird to view from other places in the park on the other side, but as it is fireworks, they are fairly high up for the most part.

Not and still be able to run Fantasmic that night. The amphitheaters proximity to Buena Vista Drive would most likely require that road to be shut down during the display resulting in the same dilemma you have with the grad night situation.

and there is something about "4th of July fireworks over the Tower of Terror" that just doesn't work for me...

This stinks. I made reservations at Chef Mickey for July 3, specifically so we could walk over to the front of MK to watch the fireworks after dinner, then run to the buses to go back to the hotel. Now I don't know if I should cancel dinner or try to get reservations for July 4. :(
