How about a mega screen? A theater near me has a mega screen which is basically a very big movie screen that's not quite Imax but its still rather impressive. Perhaps they could go for that instead of fake Imax?

In regards to IMAX at DTD....if they are not going full tilt IMAX then I do not see a point in it. IMAX lite is barely acceptable in a normal theater but not at WDW.

The problem is not with the theaters but rather with the studios. They don't seem to be willing to shoot mainstream movies in IMAX format. So far it seems to work with the mass public they blindly go to an IMAX theater just for the large screen but without the increase in resolution. The same is true with theaters trying to save money by installing digital projectors, people seem to think it is somehow better just because it has the word "digital" attached to it.

We did actually go to the movies our last trip down (I can't remember why), and the AMC was a ghost town. It could have just been the time we went (I think it was midweek), but I don't remember seeing it that empty throughout my college program or while we lived there a few years later.

I'm sure the ghost town appearance was just the time you went. That location is always in the top 10 in the country in total box office gross (not just AMC, all theatres).
