Didn't see anything about it here..But, new signs have been placed at the entrance of Space Mountain stating you cannot film on the ride anymore...

I'm surprised it took this long to happen. Seem like there is quite a risk of dropped objects hitting riders in other trains.

Yup, also this is when I put my standard plug for getting cargo shorts for the park. Makes things so much easier.

Lost a phone out of a pocket a year or so ago… got it back eventually, pretty banged up- laughed about it until we started analyzing where it fell, and what :could: have happened… ugh….

At Tokyo DL you can’t film on attraction rides. Looking like not if but when WDW parks follow suit.

No there are no metal dectectors yet. They are reverting to the standard of every other US theme park that does not allow loose phones out on rides.

I believe that may be sarcasm, although not posted in the sarcasm font...

As for MY assessment on why they're finally getting around to restricting cameras, I believe their lawyers heard about how old the track is, and probably warned management that on-ride video of an accident would make it next to impossible to avoid damages in any court case filed in response.

I doubt it. Those coasters don’t have people crisscrossing with other cars below them. The odds of dropping something that hits somebody else are pretty low. I can definitely see it on space Mountain though.

i hope this is a start for more rides, we really dont need everyone videoing every ride and offering their commentary.

I, for one, welcome this. Think of all the revenue they are missing out on when people take selfies on Space Mt. instead of buying the PhotoPass! If we don't look out for the shareholders, who will?

I always thought it was weird when people filmed on Space Mountain anyway. How much could anyone really expect to see in a Space Mountain video aside from the brief bit of lights? It's not exactly the most interesting viewing material.

It has never even occurred to me to try and take video during a ride. I know lots of people do, but I would be too nervous to lose my phone or miss out on some of the ride itself.

Sensible not only for the lost phone/hitting other passengers issue, but also because having a bright camera screen on in Space Mountain is particularly disruptive given the dark conditions.

They should ban cameras on all rides...ok, I took a pic on Living with the Land of Christmas decorations. Especially anything dark.

Had a moron two shells over on Little Mermaid taking pictures with flash. WITH FLASH! 1st, that's annoying to everyone else and you are basically saying, I don't know how to take low light pictures with florescent colors. The pics probably came out terribly.
