No Brazilians but we have Argentines!

At magic Kingdom, waiting in line for Philharmagic, a group of Colombians literally crawled under the ropes and past everybody to the front of the line before you enter the room before the theater. I was stunned to the point that I could not even react.

You're right of course. But some groups have a reputation that precede them. I'll only say this--I remember Brazlians at WDW when I was a kid. Not much has changed. On the other hand, you might think Japanese people are rude by shoving you. But look it at it from their point of view. In Japan, they live in close proximity to each other. It's almost expected that someone behind you would shove you on to a subway so that they can get in too.

The people that shove you onto the train? That's actually their job!

Unprovoked assault because of some perceived act of disrespect. Save it for the hood.

Speaking "Latin American." Errr...

Crowds. Noise. Enthusiasm. Bah humbug.

I have never been shoved by Japanese. I actually find them to be very polite. Tye Brazilians on the other hand is a whole nother story which I won't get into. I have way to many nightmare stories and it woukd take way to long. Plus there are so many threads on this forum already. :)

I never said being shoved by someone Japanese was impolite. It could very well be that's something you do in their culture and they wouldn't think twice about it, not realizing it could be perceived as impolite in another culture. To turn it around, we may think it is impolite to belch, but another culture may think you were impolite by not belching which to them is signaling you didn't like the meal.

I've never had any actual rudeness with the Brazilians...individually. They're quite pleasant when they aren't packed together in the super-herds.

See and I've had the opposite experience! My Aunt took one in as a student exchange and she was absolutely HORRIBLE. She was a total B word to my aunt, her house, and the rules! Couldn't have been more lazy when it came to pulling her own weight around the house. She turned my aunt off to the student exchange program forever.

I've never experienced them in groups, and I definitely don't take Helenas behavior as "This is how they are", knowing that's just not how it works...but it DOES make me super apprehensive of ever attending knowing the tourist groups will be there. LOL

While I've never experienced Brazillian tour groups personally, I have heard the horror stories. I think ANY group in large numbers, no matter where they're from have the possibility of being rude, obnoxious brats. In May when we stayed at All Star Sports, two of the nights we had to call down to secutrity because a group of 7-8 teenagers were playing football on the football field, which was directly outside out door. It was 2am. They were screaming and shouting and something was done ONLY AFTER we called security. I'm sorry but they should be doing something on their own without guests having to complain. Quiet hours are at resorts for a reason and no group should be exempt from that.

I think these groups have gotten away with this ridiculous behavior for so long that now they are seeing how far they can push the envelope. See just how much they can get away with. Disney needs to put a stop to it because honestly, they are putting a damper on other's vacations with their behavior.

I agree. I am a little apprehensive about attributing poor behavior to national origin. I have been at WDW during the Cheerleading Competition and I have witnessed some bratty, self indulgent behavior.

There is a large corpus of study regarding Crowd Psychology and it is well-known that large groups of people will engage in behavior they would not otherwise if they were in smaller groups. It's why you have people standing in a large group who will shout, "Jump!" at someone standing on a ledge. I think if these groups could be broken up into smaller, more manageable groups, we'd see less obnoxious behavior from people of all nationalities.

I would propose a more reasonable generalization--groups of teenagers with inadequate (or apathetic) chaperones should be banned. Regardless of country of origin, a group of 40 teenagers with one drunk chaperone will wreak pandemonium. I feel Disney should do a better job of reigning in these groups. This could, perhaps, be a benefit of MyMagic+--you no longer will have the chaperone with 40 tickets trying to get FP for Midway Mania and holding us all up. Hopefully, that will create a real deterrent for these groups even coming since they won't be able to use Fastpass+ with a group of that size (no way to get the FP+ reservations to work). w00t?

Agree. Size of group along with lack of responsible adult supervision is the problem. Nationality seems to be irrelevant, although non-local groups tend to herd together for obvious reasons. Part of the problem is this herding mentality.

I'll take the Brazilians and Aregentines ANY day over the Jersey people and their chanting and fist-pumping (why do they still do that?) At least with the Brazilians I dont understand what they are saying and it feels somewhat cultural. While waiting in line for ToT some Jersey guidos decided to start chanting and fist banging for 15 minutes. ToT didnt seem so scary after that.
