No 20K for AK?

I don't agree. The way I look at it its a roller coaster in a mountain anf to justify it for DAK they slapped in a Yeti. IMO the Yeti in a mythical creature that dose'nt belong in Asia. If they had built EE in Beastly KIngdom it would work fine, but last time I checked Yeti's wern't real.

The Yeti legend originated in Nepal and Tibet...would you not consider them a part of Asia?

There aren't really singing animals, so should Spalsh Mountain not be in Frontierland?

I don't see a problem with such a well-themed experience. They needed a cohesive theme, so they took one from the countries represented in the Asia area.

I understand where the ledgend comes from but DAK is supposed to be a park about real animal and consevation. If BK was built it would have bee a section of the park dedicated to mythological creatures. EE would work there I just think it is currently a stretch.

Also you can't compare it to Splash Mountain which resides in MK, that park has a completly different theme that is rooted in fantasy.

I think the comparison is valid, but leaving that aside...

It is almost impossible to have a thrill ride about conservation. By the premise that AK is a purely zoo-type park, then the ride or BK probably shouldn't be there at all. And I do believe that conservation and nature should be the park's main focus.

Too many people breeze through to hit the big rides and don't take the hours really necessary to see every aspect of the park.

But if you are going to include thrill rides, using a mythological creature is perfectly acceptable to me, as long as that creature comes from the overall theme of the land.

We will just have to agree to disagree because imo they wanted DAK to have a major thrill ride and slapped a Yeti in to try and make it fit.

It would take attention off the castle though which would be a big no-no (why we don't have Matterhorn).
 No....That just has to do with the placement. If they put it off to the side, it would be fine.
That's not the reason we don't have matterhorn. Matterhorn was considered for MK (and Epcot and MGM) but it was a matter of priorities.
That, too. Half Done Movie Mountain. :D Too cool.

Imagineers have stated that it would detract from the castle's view and that's the main reason why....
See above.

...Yetis might be real...:lookaroun:lol:

Besides, E:E fits the greater theme of Adventure and Nature, so it's fine by me.

Thats fine I view it as a stretch but not as bad as Nemo in EC :fork:

I don't...:lookaroun Nemo is far, far, far worse.

Nemo was a far far improvement.

Now they just need some other improvements to The Seas to bring it up to standards. I know a way to fix the pavilion inexpensively while making it more popular and much much cheaper to operate.

Yep, I sure do. :D

Considering Mt. Everest is in Asia, I don't see it as much of a stretch. Also considering the story of the ride is you are searching for an animal, which according to some reports in the queue is real.

But, everyone has their opinion and I respect it.

Now on a side note, did anyone see 2012? There is a scene where Everest is shown and with the cultural flags waving and all the one in AK looks just like it! Also there is a scene from the movie that resembles mission: space and I couldn't help but think of it.

I don't see any issue with the theming of EE. You have to take it as a whole, not just the Yeti. The mountain fits beautifully with the theme of AK. Everest is one of the worlds greatest natural wonders. The village at its foot is wonderfully authentic and the mountain looks great.

The theming of the ride was top notch I agree but does EE open the door for anything. Could a ride open based off of a dragon in Asia, or a Mummy in Africa?

Improvement in terms of it being closed, sure. In terms of theme, nada.

Do you know? I'd like to hear.

I think if there is some sort of legend story that ties in to a natural or even man-made landmark then yes.

If Disney wanted to build a giant replica pyramid and put a coaster inside trying to escape a mummy I wouldn't mind (although it would be copying off of USO probably).

The fact is we don't have a BK or MI, so tying in mythical creatures to their country of origin doesn't bother me.

Nemo was a great add. It's not like it took over the entire pavilion.

Yep, I know how to "fix" the pavilion to put it on par with "The Land" but that has to be for another time.

Have you ever been there? The whole pavilion is dedicated to Nemo.

They could have revived the pavillion without having to use charecters from an animated movie for the same budget. Adding Finding Nemo was purely a synergy strategy to "leverage a franchise across all divisions" (which means to advertise and sell more merchandise) and was most likely the brainchild of Michael Mendal's team rather than the imagineers.

I don't think it's supposed to be ONLY about real animals. It's supposed to be about ALL animals, both real and imaginary. Conservation is a big, big theme, but why would they put a dragon in the logo if it was only supposed to be about protecting real animals? And for that matter dinosaurs don't fit into the conservation theme either, since they are long past extinct for reasons not our own ;p
