Ooh, the idea of an open world Majora's Mask-style game is intriguing. I would definitely be interested in that.

Also, a Diddy Kong Racing meets Mario Kart 64 mechanic would be excellent for a Mario Kart game. The characters and worlds are present in the Mario series for a Mario Kart Adventure mode.

@TheOriginalTiki I’ve been a proud owner of the Nintendo Switch since day one. Super Mario Odyssey is what sold me on it, and it did not disappoint! You will love Tropical Freeze; it’s easily the best Wii U game, and the best 2D platformer I’ve ever played! As for potential “Imagineering” new game ideas for the Switch, I’d love to! When I’m not thinking about new Disney ride ideas in the shower, I’m thinking of ideas for a new Nintendo game ;)!

I've had the Switch since the first month, and I think it's the best console Nintendo has produced. I would know since I've tried each of them at least once! I haven't been as enthusiastic about gaming since I was a kid with the Wii and DS.

My favorite games so far are Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Odyssey, Pokkén Tournament DX (even though I also have the Wii U version), and Xenoblade Chronicles 2.

I'm definitely looking forward to the original games coming up this year, but I would like to see some more ports, specifically things like Persona or Danganronpa.

So, I just had a startling realization about the new Smash Bros.

With illumination making the Mario movie and Smash having an increasingly large number of 3rd party characters. It is entirely possible, if not probable, that Minions and/or the rebooted Grinch (whose
movie comes out very close to when Smash is expected to drop) to be in Smash.

This might be a vision of smash bros future:

Very unlikely. Sakurai has gone on record saying that unless the character debuted in a video game, they are not fit for Smash. If they were to brake this rule, I’d think they’d pick Mickey Mouse (he’s had the biggest video game presence out of any character outside the industry) or the go tos like Shrek and Goku. Nintendo isn’t like Disney, they don’t do partnerships just for the money, only if it makes sense to them...which often makes no sense to us ;)!

The only Disney character that would fit in Super Smash Bros is Wreck-It Ralph.

I still think Sora would fit incredibly well into Smash Brothers given his similarity design-wise to characters like Cloud and the Fire Emblem crew, plus the fact that Sora though being a Disney character originates from a video game and is the lead hero of said series. Another outside the box choice I'd love to see is Scrooge McDuck. If they do either Cranky Kong or Shovel Knight I imagine they could basically clone what Scrooge's moveset would be like, but Scrooge has a legacy behind him both in comics and video games that can't be unmatched. I imagine this Smash iteration will be less about big shocks and more about filling in the blanks with first party characters that probably should have joined the fight by now...Your Dixie Kongs, K. Rules, Waluigis, Birdos etc. I'm also fully expecting Cappy to show up either as an assist trophy or as part of a refined Mario character moveset. If were talking 3rd party surprises I think Shovel Knight is at the top of that list, but other than him I'd freaking LOVE to see Knuckles and Tails in the mix and those two are ones I'm surprised didn't happen last gen.

@Pionmycake, my Switch collection has gotten SLIGHTLY larger since the last video we did. ;) In alphabetical order...Planning on going through and writing reviews on these eventually. My favorites are bolded, ones I haven't really had a chance to dive into yet are in italics.

Arcade Archives: Vs. Super Mario Brothers
Astro Bears Party
Batman: The Telltale Series
Bayonetta
Celeste
Dandara
Disc Jam
Fast RMX
Fredrick
Graceful Explosion Machine
Gunhouse
Infinite Mini Golf
Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
Lego City Undercover
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
Mario and Rabbids: Kingdom Battle
Max: Curse of Brotherhood
Night in the Woods
Pokken Tournament DX
Puyo Puyo Tetris

Rocket League
Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove
Shu
Sonic Mania
Splatoon 2
Stardew Valley
Super Mario Odyssey

Tactical Minds
Voez

Star Allies will be joining the party as soon as I get my next paycheck. Still not thrilled to be paying 60$ for what on the surface seems to be an incredibly easy game, but hoping that like many Kirby games the post-game and extra stuff will make the complete package worth it.

I think that if more sonic characters were going to be in smash, it would have been with smash 4 back when Nintendo had an exclusivity deal with Sonic. I wouldn't get your hopes up too high for expanding on Sonic in the series now that it is back to being multi platform. Even the Wii had some console exclusive sonic games. The switch, so far, is the first Nintendo consile in a while without a platform exclusive sonic game.

That being said, as Sonic is probably in my top four game series of all times for how much fun I have with them and my nostalgia factor, I'd be ecstatic for more sonic characters.

Shovel Knight I take as a certainty though and he'll probably be my new main haha

What can I say, I'm a sucker for 3D Sonic's. The games surprisingly really well designed too

I've heard bad things about it, but it wouldn't be the first time a Sonic game was hyped up for being bad when it's really perfectly serviceable. Just to be clear though...you HAVE played Mania, right? If not, man you really picked the wrong Switch Sonic game no matter how solid Forces is compared to its reputation haha.

Lol I honestly just have more fun with 3D Sonic's. And the goofy character creator juxtaposed with the purposefully over serious plot is hilarious. A lot of replay value and secrets to find and stuff to unlock.

I'm sure Mania is the better game. But personally I'm enjoying Forces a lot more than I would enjoy Mania

Can you create a pirate parrot and give him a lightning gun and a grappling hook in Sonic Mania?

I hear ya on your 3D Sonic love, just saying you're sleeping on an instant classic when it comes to Sonic Mania. The genius of Sonic Mania is that it's not all about speed but the precision-based combination of intense platforming action with speed being used as basically a reward for higher skill levels. It's a very balanced and nuanced gameplay experience that recreates the Genesis-era Sonic games in an eerily accurate way and actually improves on the old formula in some significant ways. Plus it's only 20$!

Anyone with know how know when switch games go on sale?
Specifically triple a games like star allies?

It will probably be at least half a year before Star Allies in particular goes on sale as it's somewhat rare for first party titles to be part of the sale regardless. What I'd look for with the sales are 3rd party titles that are technically still triple A games. For example, DragonBall XenoVerse 2 was on sale for 30$ from its 50$ price point a couple months ago and I'm still kicking myself for not picking it up. Right now I'd say the best deal on a high profile game on the EShop is Lost Sphear at 35$ from 50$. or if you're into sports games NBA 2K18 is having a half off sale right now. I'm always on the look out for game sales but often just use it to get indie gems like Astro Bears for even cheaper than the less than ten dollar price points. Though I've picked up some shovelware this way like the Fredrick games which I bought on a whim since they were so cheap...Ended up being the worst rythm game experience I've ever attempted to play through.

As already mentioned in this thread, Youtube channels like Switch Force and Beat Em' Ups are excellent for knowing which of these lower profile indie games are worth your attention. I have a couple clunkers in my collection but generally speaking I'd like to think I've arranged a pretty decent haul for myself that's anchored by the big triple A Nintendo games and hoisted up by Indie gems like Stardew Valley and Night in the Woods. Speaking of Night in the Woods...Might be the most emotionally heavy-hitting video game experience I've ever had. It's basically like looking in some sort of weird time-mirror at my 20 year old self from seven years ago. I fully intend to write an analysis on how that game handles the themes of childhood nostalgia and mental illness which I'll share on here. It's powerful stuff.
