Nintendo partnering with Universal to make attractions.

What did I say about Marvel?

Yet when someone makes that argument with Avatar it's batted back in their face. Usually with something like "Disney should focus on original ideas, not licensing IP."
I never said anything of the kind. You're just looking for arguments now....

I still don't see how it's farfetched. Universal doesn't have a big theme park investment at Universal. With the exception of Spiderman, every single Marvel ride could be completely rethemed in a month. If Disney offers them a good deal, I absolutely think they'd take it and hopefully use the space to do nintendo justice.

Will Disney offer them enough though? I seriously doubt it. They would have to buy them out and then build more attractions when they can just sit back and collect royalty checks for nothing.

Mario Kart done somewhat in MIB style (with the 3d glasses, but you battle other kart riders), Zelda dark ride a must, and maybe a Castlevania shout out?

Throw a Kang/Kudos version small ride that is boxing gloves you sit in and boom, mike tysons punch out hahaha

The problems with Avatar are many:
(1) It's an IP that looks good on paper but isn't in the popular culture's radar right now.
(2) Even at it's very height of popularity, Avatar was a complete merchandising dud.
(3) It's a stretch to put it in AK and takes the place of an area that would have been a wet dream for fanbois.
(4) There are SO many Disney IPs that lack attractions that spending $500+ mil on an outside IP (that isn't nearly as popular as the Disney-created IPs) makes absolutely no sense. It isn't as much a complaint against Avatar as it is frustration over Disney not taking advantage of the IPs it already owns. I can imagine Nintendo would have divided the fan community almost as much.

You can't tell me a "Fantasyland-esque" area in AK with dark rides based on Jungle Book, The Lion King, Up, etc. wouldn't be infinitely more popular than Avatar and would make AK a must-visit for most families.

Actually, now that I think about it, a Star Fox ride would be SUH-WEET. BUT, they have to...

DO A BARREL ROLL!

Haha, yes! Star Fox would be an amazing attraction. They really haven't done much with him since the 64 days (that I can remember).

Although I forgot to mention this earlier. Nintendo did recently get exclusive control over another video game property that would be an interesting addition to Universal...

The Third Park BS is annoying I agree.

But as far as in the parks here are two areas to check out.

This is the area behind Simpsons and Kidzone (Including Kidzone). Nice size area.

This is the Toon Laggon area. Which includes 3 eateries and 2 rides, 4 gift shops and other wasted Space.

Best I could do lol

I actually disagree. I think one huge thing Universal has over WDW is WDW using IP themed fantasy-land esque (I.e. not on the scale of haunted mansion) dark rides too often. I'm much more excited to see pandora/whatever the "ride the avatar thing" will be than I would be to ride through jungle book or lion king in an omnimover. I don't think dark rides are must-dos for anyone outside of Peter Pan for nostalgia purposes. I'm not saying there's no place for them, but they're not going to drive people into the park... at least not people who weren't already going there.

Agreed. This is as much about what Universal can do with the IP in their parks as anything else....
Agreed. As cool as Potter was, if done right, a Nintendo world would be HUGE. The thought of MarioKart alone has my entire family salivating. Again though, done right is the key.

WWOHP was amazing but Springfield is rather blah.

I actually think Springfield isn't that bad. It's everything else there that that worries me. It's either going to be mindblowingly amazing or it's going to be overlay-city. This is one of those cases where theming rides isn't going to cut it. I need goombas walking around and skulltulas to pop up when the sun goes down.

I don't disagree. I dont think TDO would know what to do with Marvel. Although, honestly, I dont feel like Universal has done well with it either. I'm not sure that it translates well to theme parks outside of just pure attractions since most of the Marvel universe takes place in present day US. Not much to theme there. So if it's going to come to attractions, it's better off in Uni's hands.

Dark rides are capacity eaters that should be relatively inexpensive to create (unless Imagineering is allowed to completely inflate the budget a la TLM) that cater to all age groups.

Peter Pan is popular because it's a very popular character (plus Tink), it's a unique ride system, ALL visitors can ride it, it appeals to both males and females and all age groups, and it's done incredibly well for an attraction built 40 years ago.

There's a lot more to Peter Pan's (and Fantasyland's) popularity than just "nostalgia."

I have no doubt Avatarland will be amazing but it's an enormous space and huge budget for two rides. God forbid the sequels bomb.

My Gawd. They created a new area (overlay or not) for a 20 year old property that had run its course 10 years ago.

Kudos to them! It's amazing and a very fun area.

Disney has infinitely more popular franchises like Monsters, Inc and Incredibles and hasn't done a damned thing with them.
