Nintendo partnering with Universal to make attractions.

I know people say about a Mario Kart ride, but how does everyone think this'll happen? I love MK, but the beauty of it is everyone has their own favourite rider and vehicle. How do you integrate these options into a ride? I'm predicting an arcade with the arcade version of some sorts.
The ride would be that you're joining a race with all the characters.
I honestly don't see how this can be done. I like Mario kart but if its a midway mania with more motion, count me out. I already think MM is a step backwards for shooting rides. If they could manage a radiator springs racers with multiple vehicles in a line...well that's what I think it needs to be.
No one in the know has said anything about it being like Midway Mania. More dark ride.

Im for a MK ride however they go about it, as long as I can shoot turtle shells and drop bananas! :D

With the success of PokemonGo I bet they are scrambling to get some pokemon stuff together asap.

A dark ride would be fantastic. I have not heard anything so let me just say that my comment was not based on anything other than my gut feeling. I also have not spent nearly that much time watching twitter or forums or clues but that is great news. Universal is severely lacking in family dark rides and quite frankly I think Disney missed the boat when not including a lot more dark ride elements to mine train. My hope for the future is that Universal makes the next level dark ride. I do not care about trackless vehicles as no one has yet to use them for anything other than making them into cars that avoid each other, or go through a dark ride in a linear fashion. Lets face it. Mystic Manor could be an omnimover and be just as good. I want a dark ride with elevation changes and lots of sets that are so complex that you ride them one hundred times and still see new things. Haunted mansion..... only with today's effects. A flat dark ride, while still lots of potential, will never feel as fulfilling as HM. IMO of course.

How (and when) did we know Mario Kart, Peach's Castle, and Donkey Kong are for-sure attractions?
Also, is the "third park" going to be exclusive to Nintendo too? if so, I feel like it would be kind of weird to disconnect rides from park to park. Maybe some type of internal transportation system like the HP train would help but I doubt it would happen for the property as its so far away

A Universal focused forum called Orlando United.

The third park won't be only Nintendo but it's easy to imagine more of it appearing there since the land for USF seems to focus on Mario and Universal has the rights for all of their characters.

Nintendo really fits the theme of a working film studio? Am I missing something?

Or could it fit better in a third gate with Spongbob, Scooby Do and other more child friendly ip's?

Another fun word for today is Roush.

Jimmy Thick- Greatest Nintendo store in the world coming soon.

Didn't you hear? New lands/rides no longer have to thematically fit the parks they go into, as long as the IPs are popular enough.

The studio theme is not really gospel. Neither studios park is really trying to even pretend that they are strictly keeping that theme anymore. As far as nintendo.. its not as kiddie as you think. Eternal Darkness: sanity's Requiem is to this day one of the scariest and most entertaining games I have ever played and it was exclusively nintendo.

Like Hollywood Studios Universal has long dropped the working movie studio theme. In fact, after Florida Universal never used it for one of their parks again because it's an easier theme to maintain and just keep in Hollywood where it actually is a working studio.

Also, a company that develops games is sometimes referred to as a game studio. So there :p

Not to mention how people of all ages love Nintendo and not just kids. Just look at Pokemon Go. The family friendly aspect is also the whole reason that it's replacing KidZone.

Now to bring something new to the thread how cool would it be if Universal stuck one of these babies in every hotel room?

Nah, they want you up and spending not hanging in the room playing games.

I wonder if Nintendo will end up having a presence in all 3 parks. Nintendo has so many popular I.P.'s that the possibilities are endless. I assume Nintendo will play a central role in Uni attracting the family market, along with Dreamworks and Illuminations property to further support their efforts to pull the families in. Looks like everyone basically agrees that the Nintendo Land they are working on now is likely just part 1.

Pokemon is without a doubt land material if Uni gets permission to use. Zelda is another strong candidate to hold a land of its own. Then maybe even a land that contains characters that aren't quite popular enough for their own land, but still have a fanbase to possibly get an attraction dedicated to them.

Rides that absolutely need to happen imo, is a Luigi's mansion ride (sounds like it's almost certain that won't be part of what they are working on right now). And the DK mine train ride, which may or may not be included with what they are working on now

But being a working studio isn't just a theme, it's a reality. Unlike DHS and the international parks, both of Universal's U.S. locations are still actual production facilities, albeit not the most active or prestigious in Orlando's case.

USF technically can't lose its studio theme until it ceases being a studio, but the concept of its various lands doubling as a backlot for TV & film production has already had holes punched in it by the likes of Springfield and Diagon Alley, which have no real potential for serving that purpose. Rockit also damaged NY's potential for production, even though there's always CGI. Might as well add fantastical video game lands to the mix at this point.

USF only really does stuff for TV, not movies.

Nintendo stocks have now soared to a 5 year high. Insane what 1 game can do. Over 53 million shares have exchanged hands in the last week: http://www.bloomberg.com/news/artic...broke-record-as-value-soared-14-billion-chart

Pokemon Go still isn't even released in all the regions it's set to release in yet. Incredible, I mean I still think this app will fade by end of the year and into next year as I think the game itself is a bit sparse, but who knows? maybe I'm way wrong. They may also have some really neat features that they are holding back on for now that they will release in the future to keep people playing. Either way, the Pokemon domination is looking to continue for the near future.

They still don't have all of the 700+ Pokemon. Only the first 150. There's plenty to keep it going.

Yea I know, they will add more overtime this is just the originals from Pokemon Red/Blue. I meant features such as friends list and being able to battle friends. I also think a trading component would be nice. The good news is, I was just reading that these updates are likely to come, just not sure as to when. http://www.gamespot.com/articles/pokemon-gos-new-features-detailed-heres-whats-comi/1100-6441666/

When I wrote that I think the game is sparse, I meant that to keep people engaged and have people still playing this months out from now it will need more than to just add new Pokemon. That as it stands now I don't think there is enough to keep players attached, so I think the novelty would eventually wear off. Just reading the article though, it sounds like they have a plan to release these features (trading, more indepth battle system, etc..) that really add meat to the game and will keep people occupied.

Hopefully I wasn't coming off as one of those bitter "It's just a fad!" type of people that are always there anytime there is anything that is even remotely popular haha. I'm quite pleased Pokemon Go is seeing this success, as I grew up with Pokemon, and while it has always remained popular it's fun to see it make it's way back into popculture and being everywhere again. Was just saying that as it currently stands think this game needs a bit more, which as it turns out, it will be getting :)

I assume those features will come after the international rollout, which speaking of, this game still hasn't released in Japan. Can't wait to see the results when it releases there considering Japan is the world's largest mobile market I believe. Pokemon + mobile in Japan = madness beyond imagination

This thing can run and run. You can have variations of the game, easier ones, harder ones, more casual ones that take less time... they'll add social features, battle your buddies, that sort of thing. They'll wait until the hype dies down and usage drops, then release new versions.

And for Nintendo itself, I'm sure they'll be using AR for other projects. Zelda in real life where your city is a dungeon? Mario where your phone's gyroscopes are used to make sure you really are jumping on that virtual Goomba... there's unlimited possibilities.

And if Universal is the place where you can leave your phone at home and see all these things with your own eyes... getting the rights to Nintendo might just be more profitable for them than they ever could have imagined.
