Well we know why it's there, but it doesn't have to look so terrible. It's Disney, they should have access to people who can animate it properly.
Just rode the ride today and you're right. It's too crisp to be a convincing shadow. The light also seems too focused. The edge should be fuzzier, shouldn't it?

Definitely. A smoother edge darker illumination would be better. I always thought they could put a false ice wall in front to make it a little distorted.

why do you think, after over a decade, the Yeti will be fixed? It should have been fixed when it broke!

you would think its easy. but DAK would be a nightmare without everest for as long as it would take to fix it. they said the damage to the yetis foundation was due to an error in the software used to create it. the repairs would require tearing out some of the mountains infrastructure. joe rhode said hes gonna fix it... we just dont know when... i bet its gonna be after avatar. Dino needs one too

Honestly I just don't see them doing it. Not enough people really know it's broken.

One of our reliable sources here has said that it can be fixed without even shutting down the ride.
