Nighttime At The Resorts

There's something special about a Disney resort at night. There's a certain "buzz" in the air between the time people have returned from the parks and the time they retire to their rooms.

People browsing at the gift shop near closing time....The restaurant/food court as people are talking about the highlights of their day.... The atmosphere at the pool with people just relaxing or taking a late-night swim

What resorts do you enjoy for nighttime atmosphere?

Wilderness Lodge....

You come "home" (I really feel at home there) from the EMH in the MK at 2.00 AM and the giant, breathtaking and unique lobby is nearly empty, the water of the silver creek spring bubbles, the fire in the Grand Canyon Fireplace crackles and you just sit down and embrace the atmosphere, the warm glow of light reflected by the timber and you recall the many, many experiences of the day before you walk to your room...it's magic.

The porch at Old Key West is our favorite. The porches are the biggest on property, and have a table and chairs and a ceiling fan. When we get back in from a long day, we grab a drink, go out onto the porch and watch across the fairways of LBV golf course at the lights being turned on in other rooms, and then slowly turned off as everyone gets to bed. Very very relaxing.

Hearing the crickets and the jazz music played at PO - French Quarter late at nite....maybe i'm partial as I had my honeymoon there but walking around the resort to the pool at 2:00 in the morning was amazingly peaceful

There is nothing like going "home" to Old Key West at night. It beautifully lit too. Just a relaxed atmosphere from morning to dusk.

I was going to say Pop too. The walking path along Hourglass Lake is great at night. You can take your time and read all the signs (that I've read a million times anyway...lol), walk over the bridge and look back on the resort reflecting in the water....

Oh---and the pools at Pop have the best soundtrack....especially the 80's/90's pool.

Port Orleans is nice as well....the lobby and pathways always seem so dead there! It's like we're the only people there. Walking along it's waterways are so relaxing as well.

I also love the resorts early in the morning before all of the activity starts. Everything seems so fresh and clean, before the chaos of the day. My favorite is the Animal Kingdom Lodge just as dawn breaks - the animals are out and active, yet the guests aren't out and about. I love that time of day....

Although we have never stayed there, on many occasions we have done a dinner at the Wilderness Lodge and then spend 20 minutes or so wandering around the pool/garden/river/geyser area. That is by far the best night-time resort that I have seen. Buy in means of resorts that I have stayed at, it would have to be Old Key West, the tranquility of the resort and the look of the golf course greens at night is so cool.

I have to agree about early mornings...just something about the smell and the feel of the air and the anticipation of getting to the parks and all that lies ahead of you that day....

As far as nighttime, the Poly is my favorite. Walking along the firelit paths or laying in a hammock on the beach watching the castle change colors...maybe it was just because it was my honeymoon but it was a magical resort for me.

I love the Wilderness Lodge at night just because of the lighting and the mood it brings out. I also like the Poly with the Tiki Torches lit as well, you can't beat that.

The Poly, on the beach, at Sunset....with a cold cocktail. Folks lounging around, getting ready for the Elec parade, fireworks, etc. The 'noise' from the pool (kids playing) is actually quite soothing as compared to the height of the afternoon.

I must say i love night time at the AKL. As previously mentioned there is a buzz in the afternoon, but i like wondering around the resort about 9pm when everything has died down, it's very tranquil.

The morning buzz is something special, and has been present at all Disney resorts i've stayed in.

One tip I've found-

If you want to go check out another resort, to see what it looks like, don't go in the middle of the day.
You will get a false impression that it's bare and lonely.

It's at night that the resorts come alive.

Sitting on the balconies of YBC or BW first thing in the morning.
I love to watch Disney wake up.

Evening at the AKL is fantastic, sitting by the fire.

I love walking back to my room at the Wilderness Lodge after a boat ride back from the Magic Kingdom but I have to say my absolute favourate is the Disneyland Hotel at Disney Land Paris because of the view.
