With the nice makeup, do kinda wonder how fried his brain is getting. He is still moving at a good clip though, awesome to see!

I think I know Nick pretty well. As much as I could with all our conversations and texts etc. I think he is mentally fine at this stage. As a matter of fact, I would bet any amount of money. He is a mental machine.

he is doing awesome, I am cheering from afar. This is truly a brutal race, from what I have read only 2 people have ever finished it, here is hoping Nick is number 3 and the others pull it out too. This is definitely the kind of race where you are not against each other but the race itself.

Text via Alison: 270 Miles for nick! Out already for 280 with Steve. Feeling good and picking up the pace to keep on track.

You know, I thought I did a good job of getting faster as the miles piled on.... but this is insane. Way to go Nick. Keep kickin .

Text via Josh Dennis: PEAK 500 MILE RACE UPDATE: My Animal Camp teammate Nick Storm Trooper Bautista had passed the 280 mile mark at 12noon today and is pressing on and currently logging more miles.. It's easy to just look at total miles but consider this.. Next time you are on a commercial flight at cruising altitude (30,000 feet) and look down. That altitude is not even half the 67,200 feet that Nick has climbed and than descended thus far in mountainous terrain over 280 miles. Saying he is BAD does no justice, this is an entirely new level!! Go Stormtrooper!!

According to FB the guy that dropped out is training for a 1,000 mile ultra and is still running (doing an additional 60 miles) just not on the same course as Nick and the others.

Ummm... there's a 1,000 Mile Ultra!!?? Guess we know what Nick will be signing up to do next year.

Talked to Mrs. Machine this evening. She has not spoke with Nick since Sunday. She said the cell phone service is practically non-existent; Either at the summit of the climb or at the general store in town. Most of her communication is via text with Nick or other members of the crew. She said that he has a great support group up there right now and has someone pacing with him on almost every lap.
She said she really appreciates all the support for Nick!

Lasted update:

Animal Camp athlete Nick Storm Trooper Bautista hit mile 300 at 7:51, back out on 31 at 8:08 and already at the summit!! Willy (who was the race leader and officially pulled out at mile 250 with the lead for unknown reasons) then went on to run another 60+ mile around town off course because thats what he wanted to do..... Well, Willy is back, and has joined Nick to pace him and help crew him.. Given Willy pulled out back at 250, Nick is leading the race... Don't ask questions.. All the athletes out there have endurance off the charts and are now playing in "the deep end of the pool.."
