Nibblesandbits Amazingly Wonderful Trip Report Number 5 (Sept. 21-25)

Well, I'm officially back from a wonderful time at the World. And I know what you all are thinking...Trip Report! Trip Report! Which of course, I shall do. :)

Pre-show:

This trip was actually a "last minute trip" for us. Not a lot of time for lenghthy planning for me. My husband (commonly known around here at What's His Face or WHF, for short) and I were originally planning a trip to California this year. We were supposed to see Disneyland and visit some of what California had to offer. Unfortunately, WHF got a new job this year and didn't want to take all that time off.

Also, coinciding with that, WHF got me an AP for my birthday this year...my very first AP! I was so excited. Now, needless to say, when you've got an AP, it burns a hole in your pocket. So, since we weren't going to California, we should go back down to Florida. And, WHF wouldn't have to take as many days off work if we went to Florida, so less than 2 months beforehand, we set the date.

And, set the date we did. My trip was scheduled for the dates of Sept. 21-25 for a few reasons. Number 1. my friend Bunny would be down there for part of the same time I would be and I really wanted to see her and her family. Number 2. I really wanted to visit the Adventurer's Club for one last time. Number 3. I wanted to go this year in Sept. so I could get another use next Sept. out of my APs.

Finally, after a very short wait, it was time to go!!!

After the parade, we were going to ride the HM, but the line was really long, so we went to Splash instead. Then we rode Pirates and ran to Space. The Party was over.

Some shots as we exited:

Oh, I also wanted to do a shameless plug...:lookaroun

I'm the co-host of a podcast and I did an episode live from MNSSHP. I talked about my trip up to that point and about all the fun I was having. It was a cool episiode b/c I was waiting for the parade as we were taping. So, if you want to actually "hear" about my report, go there. :)

To listen click here. You can also find us on I-Tunes under Be Our Guest Podcast. My episode is number 57.

Now...I return to the regularly scheduled TR already in progress...

Epcot, A Surprise, Meet Ups, Food, and the Adv. Club

So, today started like any other day...get up and get on a bus. Which bus today? Epcot! We had a plan...and our plan was to hit up a few rides we either missed or wanted to see again...so, Epcot was our first stop.

They had just set up the night before for Food & Wine. It's so weird. One day, there's nothing there...the next day, a whole different set up!

106_2200.jpg

We got there and Fastpassed Soarin. Then we did Nemo again and played a little in Innoventions for the first time ever.

Then it was over to Test Track! Finally I got to ride. We decided to do single rider because the Stand By wait was around 40 min and we still had FPes for Soarin...oddly enough...we got to sit right next to each other. That's the first time ever! :)

106_2205.jpg

After getting the priviledge of sitting next to my husband on TT, we went to SSE...again, loved it. Then we went to ride Soarin, as our time was up.

Now, it was time to leave. Because we had to meet up with a lovely member from these boards...DisneyBunny and her family were there...and I was super excited to see them again. (She has the best family...and I should know...I've had the priviledge of getting their hospitality twice so far...and I'm sure there will be more in the future. :) )

But first, I had to leave Epcot...ah...this is where my surprise takes place....

As we were walking in the front area...I look up and spotted someone I kind of recognized. I did kind of a double take. That can't be...

And then I believe the words uttered out of my mouth were...

Oh My God...you're Lou Mongello!

106_2210.jpg

Lou was just happy to meet a podcaster who was shorter than him!

After chatting with Lou for a few minutes (who, btw, is such a nice guy!) we took the monorail over to the TTC and then the one from the TTC to the MK.

While entering, I got a call from Bunny...they were on their way back to the MK and they would meet us there! Yay!!!

So, while waiting, I went and got a Mickey Bar (while thinking of Dot and all my Magic Friends) and got on the TTA. Nothing better than that combo!

Then we got on Space...since there was no wait.

While we were getting off that, Bunny called, they had arrived. We decided to meet in front of the TTA.

This was Bunny's first time meeting WHF...but things ended up being good there...they all seemed to get along well and WHF got to meet the crazy people I went and stayed the night with!

So, off we went to the TTA! (Again...)

106_2212.jpg

Then we did Space with Bunny, while Marc watched Anya. After we conqured Space again...I let Bun go off with Marc while WHF and I watched Anya...yay for babysitting. :lookaroun

We had a good time though...we played all in the shop right at the exit of Space...

Ain't she a cutie!!!

106_2219.jpg

Our babysitting adventure was a good one...and WHF did well with a kid for the first time ever...so onward we went.

Now, Bun had won Dream Fastpasses earlier (as you might have read if you'd read her TR going on here.) and she's such an amazing friend that she gave one to me! (Love you Bun!) So, we used up our one FP for Buzz, even though there was a minimal wait...:lookaroun She creamed me!!! I don't even want to remember how badly! It was by like 200,000 points or something! I stink!

Proof that we really were all toghether (Bun...I think I got the better pic of this...so you're welcome to it...although I still don't know what WHF is doing in it...:lookaroun I think he just didn't want to put his arm around Marc... )

106_2221.jpg

Now, it was time to leave...as we had dining ressies over at Trail's End.

Us two crazy girlies on the way to Trail's End:

106_2224.jpg

Don't lick the bar!!!

106_2228.jpg

This was my first time eating at Trail's End...and I can see why so many rave about it. It really is a hidden treasure! The food is so good!!! (Guess what we had...it rhymes with licken...) Loved every single thing I ate! Great cornbread, chicken, green beans, corn, and mashed potatoes! This is definitely a place that impressed not only me, but WHF. We are definitely going to make it a point to visit here again. This has now become a must do.

106_2231.jpg

On the way back, we caught a really great sunset:

106_2242.jpg

After our dinner...we went back to Bun and Marc's hotel...they were staying at Old Key West. This was my first time seeing that resort...it's gorgeous. Makes me really want to consider buying into DVC. But, alas, that involves money...and a commitment. I don't think I'm ready for commitment. :lookaroun (It's not you...it's me...:lookaroun )

Bunny and Marc offered us ice cream as we sat out on the balcony. It was a wonderful night. The weather was perfect.

But, the night was still young and we had some partying to do! So, Bunny, WHF, and I were off to the Adv. Club. This was her first time to the Adv. Club...and I didn't really know how she'd like it.

The club itself was PACKED. There was no moving. If you got in a spot, you stayed there. I managed to push our way into two shows...the Balderdash Cup (my first time seeing this...and we were in the front row!) and the Radio-a-thon.

It was now time to put Bunny to bed...she was beat...so back we went to Old Key West.

We dropped her off, waited forever for a bus back to DTD and then hit that station back for the bus to Pop. A long trip, but we wanted to make sure Bunny got home in one piece. (It was like a date...I dropped her off at her door...no kiss goodnight though...I did get a hug...what does that mean...:lookaroun ) I was said to say by to Bun...but I know it won't be the last time I see her...(are you ready for houseguests again yet? :lookaroun)

Once we got back to the room, we packed and went to bed. We would have to leave tomorrow. :(

Great pictures. I too heart the "Mailman" song.

I never got to see Gabby do a show.

The Mailman song is something I routinely sing...just for fun. I just break out into song...:lookaroun

And Gabby was awesome! She was actually my favorite one.

I'm loving your trip report! It's getting me very excited for my trip in 10 days! :sohappy:

Yay!! Hope you have a great trip!!!

Great trip report so far! Can't wait to hear about MNSSHP!

Ask and you shall recieve! :)

A trip to a park by yourself....sounds heavenly. One day I'll get to do that.

It really was awesome. I really enjoyed being free to do what I wanted. Not that I don't like going to the parks with my husband, but when you're a certified Disney nerd...there's something wonderful about just getting to explore without being hindered by what the other half wants to do. :lookaroun (Stupid fact it's their vacation too...:lookaroun  )

great report so far! I love exploring WS..I'm glad you finally got to really explore it.

It was so nice just getting the chance to explore it. And thanks!

Doing the parks solo....you captured it, liberating
needless to say, you will be considering doing this more in the future. It just adds a whole different perspective.

I always enjoy Flame Tree as well, and can still use DDE there!

Yeah....I'm well aware of the wanting to do the parks solo more in the future...I'm considering a trip to Mousefest...and I'm sure if I went to that, I'd have some solo time most definitely.

And yes...DDE...definitely used that there! Worked like a charm. I love that even though it's a counter service, they take it there. Although, can't say how much longer they will...I'm assuming they were originally only taking it b/c there weren't really any sit down restaurants in AK at first. Now that they are getting some, wonder if it will change.

Great trip report, I look forward to the rest!

Thanks!

great trip report, nibbs. I look forward to reading the rest and seeing the pictures.

Thanks as well!!!

that last post made me reallllly want to go sometime during halloween!

great report so far i'm, looking forward to more!

Oh...Halloween is so much fun!!! I love getting to go that time of year. The decor is amazing...although not as amazing as Christmas...but it's really neat, nonetheless.

Loved the MNSSHP pics! I may have to bug for the location of your fireworks spot for my next trip.

Um...we'll see...:lookaroun

Thursday Sept. 25
DHS and going home :(

Well...it's our last day. Boo!!! Of course you're never ready to say goodbye, but this time, I knew it wouldn't be for long. So, it was much easier to leave the place we all love. Not much, of course, but it was a bit easier knowing I'd be back soon.

We got up, finished packing our stuff and dropped it off so that it could be whisked to the airport. It was our first time being able to use it and Wow! That is the nicest feature! I really loved it. Really great service. Totally impressed me!

So, off we went to DHS b/c we wanted to ride TSMM one more time...and hit up RNRC too.

The wait for TSMM was longer than our last one, but was around 60 min. I love this ride...really really do. Can't wait to ride it again and again! It is definitely addicting. :)

Then we got in the single rider line for RNRC. Got to ride it twice in a row, which was pretty great.

But alas, our time was now up. We had to leave. :(

We headed back to Pop and waited for the ME bus to pick us up. (I ate my first ever piece of tye-dyed cheesecake while waiting...yum!) Once it did...it was smooth sailing the rest of the way.

After a quick layover in Atlanta...we were home.

Trip Reflections

This trip was really a great one. Last year when I came home, I felt so let down for some strange reason. I think I had built the trip so big up in my head that even though it was a great trip, it could never fully live up to my expectations.

This time, I went in with almost no expectations, and while I didn't do everything that I wanted to...I was happy with all that I managed to do. I realized that relaxing a bit really is the way to do a Disney vacation. I also realized that your vacation really can work (and for me, worked better) when I didn't have every second of every day planned out. I got to do things that I never even thought of doing...and enjoyed them immensely.

Thank you all for sticking with me as I finished this report. I now reward you for sticking with me with some additional photos that I took. (What a prize! )

This time we went into China and I really enjoyed the lady playing in there before the movie. I wished I would have caught her name. She was very good.

The last time we were there we had an odd experience while watching this. I would agree that the musician is very good. We were just sitting and enjoying her music waiting for the movie to start. Then this older guy gets up and just starts going off on the musician. He is saying stuff like "We aren't here to listen to you" and nonsense like that. My wife and I are just sitting there in shock as this goes on. We went up to her afterwards and told her that we really enjoyed her music.

People are odd ...
