No...Bhulin wasn't beaten...shots that hit the post count as neither a shot on goal, OR a scoring chance...

Excuse me. A GREAT team. The Lightning are no where near a great team. They are an O.K. team with a good system. The 74 and 75 Flyers were great teams. The Oilers of the 80s were great teams. The 2004 Lightning are no where near a great team.

Oh, yea the Philly fans may seem "mean", but that's because we have passion. We bleed orange and black. Unlike the Tampa fans who barely know what offsides is.

And oh yea, who won today. FLYERS 3, Lightning 2. LETS GO FLYERS!

So they beat us. But you playing in our house Tuesday and we're going to win. Besides if it keeps going this way where every other game we win, the series will be ours. So you just wait, this series is ours and that cup is going to have our name on it.

Nice pic TiggerBW :) How much did they get ya for the autograph  ??

As for some of the other posts, why is it non Philly sports fans constantly act as if Philly fans are the only one's who have ever done something boneheaded ?? I'm not going to bring up all the usual garbage people bash us about, but as far as the most famous one goes, the reason the jolly fat man got booe'd was because he was doing a horrible job and rumor has it he was loaded. Come on, don't take everything ESPN hype's about Philly as gospel. What other fans force'd an arena to show the Presidents news conference on the scoreboard after 9/11 happened.

Thanks! He's my favorite! Oh and yes, he paid $20 for my autograph because I'm TiggerBW!
No really I've met him twice, once in Dave and Busters and got his autograph - on my birthday, and the second time was my avatar picture at the Flyers Wives Fight for Lives carnival. I forget the admission price, maybe $15, then it was $5 per autograph.

I also totally agree with you. ESPN may bash us, but we are the most passionate fans out there. We love sports and we love our teams. Sometimes we shout critical comments to them, but we are giving them feedback so they can improve. :D

Have to keep this one going. This is great reading. hehe

No Philly fan bashing here. Simply put, I enjoy gritty teams with some young talent get the chance to go for a cup. Thats why I'm throwing my hat in the Tampa ring. I'm no bandwagon rider, rather, my team, once again got spanked and in order for me to care about the playoffs, I need a team I think can win it. After the playoffs, the Lightning can go back into cave with last years Ducks.

Did I really hear someone a ways back say something to the effect that Detroit was a real team? HAHAHAHAHA. It's so nice to see teams built on heart going deep in the playoffs and not teams that are financially killing the league, you know these "Steinbrenner" teams with big money for all the big names. Each time a Wings or Rangers team fail, I just have to have a beer. And the way things are shaping up, I may have a drinking problem before long.

Let's Go Lightning... !!:D

$20 bucks huh, well done by you !! as it should be :) But I can see paying $5 at such an event. Charitable things o.k but $30-$70 at one of these memorabilia events....no way.

Agreed! :)

I only went once, and I'll only go again if Hextall will be there. He's my absolute favorite of all time. I'm dying to get him to autograph my Hextall jersey!!!!! :D

A gritty team? The Lightning are not a gritty team. There is more grit in Mario Lemuix than in the Lightning.

nhl

even if the flyers beat the lighting (which they wont) the flyers still have to get by either the sharks or the flames and right now both teams are doing hot and the flyers will have a hard time. maybe the devils will win next year. to bad they lost this year lets hope stevens is ok .

Tampa has...how many? San jose? Calgary...?

The 4 teams competing for the cup have a total of 3 combined....thats the number Detroit has won in the past 7 years

And how many cups have the Wings bought? Maybe if your owners stopped with the ridiculous payroll the NHL wouldn't be in such tough shape.

This year Detroits payroll was around 77 million. Tampa's payroll is about 33 million. The league average this year, 44 million. Seems Detroits payroll over the past years has greatly exceeded that of the league average.

Your comparing that to a market like Tampa, San Jose and Calgary? You have to be joking. Tampa can't fill their arena, no offense but Tampa isn't exactly a hockey hotbed, so how are they going to compete with a Detroit payroll. That's the biggest problem with pro sports today. The big markets that make the revenues can beef up their teams with high priced "stars".

You should be embarrassed at how your overpayed team failed these past 2 years. I have news for you. All your "old timers" are going to start retiring and pretty soon, Detroit's payroll will come down and then they will have a subpar team. They'll get walked all over. Detroits day came and went. Enjoy you 4 cups, it came at a great expense to the league...:D

Oh ya, Calgary's payroll is 35 million and Philly's 65 million. Anything short of a cup is complete failure for the Flyers...

I don't blame the Wings poor showing the past two seasons on the older guys, who are still better than 90% of the young 'stars' out there these days.

I blame the wings performance as well as that of teams such as Ottawa and Toronto on the NHL's inability to call the game the same in the post-season as in the regular season. The officials don't let the skill players play their games, perfect example is Pavel Datysuk, a wing, who is 22, hes an old timer i guess, who is held everytime he skates through the nuetral zone. Calls that would be 2 minutes in the regular season are missing in the post season. Thats the reason the low payroll teams make it farther, they are able to get away with holding and hooking all through out the play offs, because they can certainly not skate with the more advanced players and teams like the Red Wings and Senators.:brick:

The NHL needs more owners like Mike Illitch, his passion for the game brings the viewers to detroit. You watch games around the country, and when the wings are in town, those arenas sell out. So don't get snippity with the Red Wings, they are one of the few teams keeping the NHL in the spotlight. After these play-offs, and the CBA, hockey will never be the same.
