So the top 4 teams in each division are in a round robin for seeding. So in the East, Boston, Tampa, Philly, and Washinton will all play each other once to determine seeding (as an aside, I am a bit confused on seeding. I've heard that you add those points to their current point totals for seeding, which would mean Boston has already secured the top seed in the East. I've heard elsewhere this is strictly best record in the round robin). Teams 5-12 then are in a play-in best of 5 tourney. Reseeding happens each round. SOOOOO, basically Boston and Philly are simply playing for seeding in the next round, so they only play each other once. The Rangers were trying to make it through to the next round, so they are eliminated.
Wow! The NHL sure did make things complicated. Today the Flyers play the Capitals....tomorrow they play the Lightning. This is all just for seeding? Hypothetically if the Flyers lost tonight and tomorrow...they would not be eliminated? They'd just be seeded at or near the bottom?

Yup exactly. It's kind of complicated, but at the same time, they wanted to do something to reward the teams that did very well this season. It's a bit unfair, but it wouldn't be fair if Boston got bounced by a team that was about 3 days from elimination a few months ago, and it wouldn't be too fair to say the Jackets if they didnt get a chance to play in the playoffs either.

The Toronto Maple Leafs pulled their goaltender when losing 3 - 0.
Amazingly they scored all of the 3 goals they needed.....then in the OT they scored again and came away with the victory!

Columbus completely fell apart when they lost werenski. That team has such a void of talent, its remarkable they are where they are.

Boston has gone 0-4 in the bubble (including the exhibition) and have yet to have a lead in any game. Yikes.

I disagree. I'm to the point that columbus is the ultimate litmus test. If tampa can't get up to play them, blow the team up.
......and my favorite team the Flyers beat the Lightning....finished this aspect of the postseason at 3 and 0.
Now the Flyers are the #1 seed.

And the rangers win the ping pong balls. That team is going to have a stupid amount of offensive talent in like 2 years.

Meanwhile, completely forgot that A.) The pens have to either give up this year's pick or risk next years and B.) Since the leafs didn't win the lotto, they now lose their 1st as part of them giving it to the hurricanes to take marleau. Oh I'm having a good laugh today.

Wow. I can't believe I watched a 6 hour hockey game. It was fun! Lucky I had leftovers in the fridge for dinner. I wouldn't have had time to make something in the 15 minute intermissions.

This league is so ridiculous at times. How does a goalie control the puck with their glove to negate a hand pass while not covering the puck for a stoppage?
