I’ll give it a month before they starting selling the “third” Jersey with the squid on it.

I bought a T-shirt last night...just a cool look. I have no allegiance to them other than Ron Francis being one of my top 3 players all time

I have even less since I dont like Francis since I associate him with the penguins (though I do love the city of seattle). Getting me some merch as well.

FYI for anyone who doesn't know, saw it pointed out that if you look at the anchor, the top of the anchor is actually the space needle. Great detail.

Oh you wouldn’t mean this...would you?

I was there...and many other moments over 5 titles in 26 or so years 🐧

I was enjoying watching the Flyers vs Bruins game this weekend. Yet,as I watched the guys get in each others faces when a Bruin was in the crease with the Flyer's goalie.....I thought....this is truly business as usual.
If players can fight and just get 2 minutes in the penalty box.....if the NHL is gonna allow that like any other year.....isn't that a likely scenario for the spread of the virus?
Even without fighting, there are numerous times players are face to face as they battle for the puck in the corner(s).
Let's see if this works out.

Only if someone has it. Being in Canada, and in a bubble, gives me a lot of hope.

But boy, after this weekend, we are 2 games away from Pittsburgh continuing to be the luckiest sports city in the US. As much as I would die laughing at Montreal knocking them out (and Chicago taking out Edmonton), I lose it if they get Lafreniere

I had NO idea you were in Canada...I thought you were in New Orleans or something 😂

Anyway...I think the nhl will be successful In the bubble...the problem is what do they do for the “next” season??

Need more bubbles...but the players aren’t gonna go for that methinks

Haha, not me, I meant the games being in Canada, I'm an Ohio boy.

Next year is fascinating to me. I mean, you look at bubble sports vs non-bubble, I think it's pretty apparent you have to do it. But, could you set up a series of bubbles? So NPR was talking about baseball vs hockey last week, and they made the point of how well the bubble works as the NHL has had 0 positive cases. The thing is they have had no positives tests while in the bubble, but also like 2 weeks leading up to the bubble as well (and like 2 positives before that). So maybe the players are showing they can be decently responsible. If (and yes, a BIG IF) there could be a vaccine in the first part of next year, then could you set up 4 bubbles and have teams go play all their division games to start the year. Then you give them a week off and reassess. If the vaccine is out, you can move on to normal games. If not, you start creating a series of bubbles for teams to play in. End result would be something like you go into a bubble for a month, then go home for a week, back to the bubble, back home, etc.

I see 4 bubbles...two north of the line and two south.

But even the amiable nhl players will balk this time. Not for 2/3 the year...

Hell...I got an all time great temperamental Russian who mopes when he doesn’t see his kid everyday...in NORMAL conditions 😳

...It’s a lot or ask

It is. But the alternative very likely is no paycheck for the next year. Baseball's complete breakdown really hurt all sports.

The problem is that “no paycheck” only works on the nfl...because they are indentured.

The big names with large guaranteed contracts and a semi-competent financial planner can say “no thank you” at will.

Mike Trout Just had his first kid...he’ll be hunkered down back in Millville, NJ by the weekend at this rate...though it’s spiking due to stupidity around there too.

Guess I just figured that if the season doesn't happened, they aren't paid for the season guaranteed contracts or not, but I'm very far from knowing all those things. Can't disagree with you on the NFL thing though.

No...they wouldn’t be paid.

But I’m saying is the ham and eggers NEED to play...the star don’t

No stars = no league

The nba is gonna have a similar problem...potentially

Would someone kindly explain to me the framework of the NHL postseason. Specifically, why were the Rangers involved in a best of 5 series, but the Flyers just beat Boston in one single game and now they will play one single game against another opponent..then one single game against yet another/ different opponent. What's the deal?

So the top 4 teams in each division are in a round robin for seeding. So in the East, Boston, Tampa, Philly, and Washinton will all play each other once to determine seeding (as an aside, I am a bit confused on seeding. I've heard that you add those points to their current point totals for seeding, which would mean Boston has already secured the top seed in the East. I've heard elsewhere this is strictly best record in the round robin). Teams 5-12 then are in a play-in best of 5 tourney. Reseeding happens each round. SOOOOO, basically Boston and Philly are simply playing for seeding in the next round, so they only play each other once. The Rangers were trying to make it through to the next round, so they are eliminated.
