NFL Playoffs Pick-em Time!

News headline: A gas-like odor has been wafting over Manhattan today.

That's what happens when the Giants and Jets lose in the playoffs. Or maybe Rosie and Donald are at it again.

The Pats will probably be the only upset this week.

Chicago should shoot the Hawks out of the sky,
The Ravens should make dolts out of the Colts,
The Saints should go marching over the Eagles,
and the Patriots will take the volts out of the bolts.

 I know YOU will! But as long as you bring your pom-poms, you can abuse me all you want, baby! :)

If the Saints beat the Eagles, won't that be their first playoff victory ever? Or did they win once before? I'm not trying to give you a hard time -- well, maybe just a little bit -- I'm just trying to put this game into the proper historical context. :)
*shakes pom-poms*..;)

They won in 2000 against the Rams..in the Superdome..:):)

Dec. 30, 2000. I looked it up. I had the right idea with January '01, but apparently they started the playoffs a little early that season. :p

:sohappy: Nice!

So they did win one. I was pretty sure that that hex was over.

I'm man enough to admit that the Saints have won more playoff games in the past 10 years than the Bears. There was that Steve Smith debacle last year. And in 2001 we got bounced in the first round by the Eagles. You have to go back to 1994 to find a Bears playoff victory.

Hey, Freak, one of our local football beat writers agrees with you. A guy at the Tribune is picking the Pats as the sole upset this coming weekend. :hammer:

A lot of people look at experience instead of the current season when the playoffs roll around. And if you're going to go that route, who would you take? Brady and Belichek or Martyball?

I still lean toward the Bolts, but a win by the Flying Elvises wouldn't surprise me at all.

Need I remind you the Eagles only lost to the Saints in the regular season by 3 points, last minute.
Need I remind you that it wasn't a last minute win? The Saints ran out the last 8 minutes and 30 seconds of the 4th quarter. At any point in the final drive, your team could have stopped us, but they didn't....except when they put too many men on the field. I'll forever remember the helpless look on McNabb's face during that drive. We refer to it in my house as "the McNabb look" and use it to describe the look on the faces of all losing teams.

I like your new avatar! Nice! I wish Virginia McCaskey would lighten up and let us have our Honey Bears back.

Ya'll don't have cheerleaders/dancers?

Not since the Super Bowl. George Halas supposedly said that as long as he was alive, the Bears would have "dancing girls" on the sidelines. Papa Bear died in 1983, but the Honey Bears had a contract that kept them in place until the end of the 1985 season. Then the McCaskey family took over, with Halas' daughter, Virginia, widely believed to be the one who won't allow Bears fans to have something nice to look at when Brett Favre is carving up our secondary.

Just want to point out that I picked the Pats several posts before my fellow "homer."

Today's paper, Bruschi feels the team has been in a drought because they have not been to the Super Bowl in a while.

I have a feeling River's will have a migraine by the end of the first half.

Yep, that's fine. If a team still alive on your board gets hot and you want to jump on the bandwagon or somebody gets injured and you want to jump off, I think that can add to the fun of the game.

If anybody else wants to change picks, just do what scorp did and make a new post. That way, I can stop scouring everybody's original posts right up until kickoff to make sure I haven't missed any changes.
