I think the league likes Peyton Manning too much to let him get clobbered by tough defenses. This rule emphasis came after the embarrassment against the Seahawks in the Super Bowl. The last major emphasis on pass coverage came after the 2003 AFC Title game where Peyton got roughed up. Coincident? I don't think so.How are you guys liking the enforcing of the defensive pass interference rule? Any stand outs of it being enforced that made you think, "hey these guys are athletes let them play?"
Now, I know it might be going too far to say it's just for Peyton, but the league wants more Peyton and less Sherman. Defense doesn't sell nearly as much as offense.
Let them play. It's a tough game for tough people. Football invites contact.
