Green Bay's defense had been playing well all game long, and going for it on 4th & 18 would have been suicide in my opinion. And they might not have gone for an onside kick, they could have kicked and tried to get a defensive stop.

And with the redzone failures by Green Bay, New England has one of the best CB groups in the league. When the fielded gets tighter, so does the coverage, as made clear by the 12 seconds Rodgers had in the pocket without being able to find a receiver open.

Interesting you should say that, considering your team gave up a 4th and 26 conversion back in the '04 playoffs.....But NE does have a good secondary with Revis, Browner and such. I would know 'cause Devin McCourty played at Rutgers and he was a stud back then.

2004 was a long time ago. And more often than not, they will not be converted. It's hard enough to convert a 4th & 5.

Happened a few years ago when Seattle hosted a game at 9-7.

I was very happy to hear this and also very confused as to all the rumors about him signing with the saints. We need Oline and DB help, not another RB!
11-5 Atlanta traveled to a 9-7 Arizona a few years back...that Arizona team ended up HOSTING and winning the NFC Championship that year.

With all the discussion about whether the playoff format should be altered, I love it just the way it is. It provides great drama, something I love in football, especially in December. It also forms a regional rivalry among teams and fans. The NFC North is great because where I live there are Packers, Bears, Vikings, and Lions fans, and the fan interactions are great. Yes, there are quirks in the system that might allow a 6-10 team to host a playoff game, but if they're so bad, then why are fans worried about them getting in and winning? I like the quirkiness to it, and it adds more storylines.

When I quoted your post I inadvertently posted Arizona had a 7-9 record. When I read my post I went back and edited it to correct my error, and must have changed your post as well...dah he hee...forgive me, I'm from Atlanta!!! And in first place with a 5-7 record!!

BTW ... Nice win against Pitt!

Being a die-hard bears fan...

This season has absolutely sucked.
Our trio of receivers expected to dominate the league has had a pretty bad season, and forte is the only excitement on offense.
I don't feel like Forte has been anything special either. I believe he has 1 rush for 20+ yards. Hes had problems with going down with light contact at the line. Sure he has done well as a receiver but we need him more is as running back.

Cutler can't throw a ball without getting picked off, and we have way to many fumbles.
Cutler has had his problems this season, there is no doubt about it. I think the game planning has had a lot to do with it, as well as horrid field position and the defense can't stop anyone putting them behind before Cutler can blink.

Defense is eh. We can never stop a good run game, and our stellar DBs are doing terrible. The best DB right now is conte,(Seriously, CONTE???).
I know I have always been in the minority that Conte isn't that bad. A lot of last season wasn't his fault. He was being put in situations that not many safeties would have success with. He isn't an all-star but I think you can win with him on your roaster.

And special teams just lacks excitement after we lost devin hester.
Hester leaving didn't bother me. The lack of effort the organization put towards special teams is the real issue. The coaches ignored it from game 1 and they have not improved at all. It's not just 1 thing either. Missed field goals, starting on the 5 or 10yrd line on kick offs, bad punts, being burned on fake punts.... Its a landslide of bad.

With many predictions expecting a good season, even reaching the wild card game, this season has been an absolute flop. And trestman must be fired
I agree, Trestman has to go. All of the above issues have their roots in coaching. I also think that Emery needs to go. So far his drafting has been spotty at best and the coaching decisions speak for themselves. I didn't think we would have a great season because we still had too many holes and had no real depth. I didn't expect that we would suck this bad though.[/QUOTE]

Hahaha that's cool, didn't even think of that. Just really confused me lol

Yea idk where that offense has been the past 3 weeks at home. That game had everything going against us, outside, on the road, on grass and being cold and that was our second best game of the season IMO.

I was surprised when the falcons jumped up 17-0, didn't see that happening lol.

I hear ya!!! I still expect you to win the division....we have @ Green Bay next Monday Night, Pitt home in tha Dome, y'all in your crib, and Carolina to end the season....I can't see is goin 2-2, and if we did somehow, we would almost certainly have to beat you and Carolina to win the division. If y'all beat us, the 3rd tie breaker is Common opponents, which you have the advantage....

AND....I have no idea how I was able to edit your post?? I guess those $8.50 beers at the Georgia Dome yesterday were more powerful than I originally thought!

So the Giants placed 5 players on IR this week (3 starters and a key bench player), lifting their total to 20 since the start of training camp, by far the most in the league.
