Falcons @ Packers in December, looking forward to that game. I hope it's snowing heavily.
Ummm...remember your first playoff loss at the frozen tundra? Had to do it...we have no history here and most are satisfied with saying "we had a good season"!!
I don't but with our luck it probably will. We also play @ San Fran in December.... blah
Bring um!! I know we're just Atlanta, but its time to step!!! Bring on whoever is in the way of our quest for the big un!!!
As a UGA fan, I can sadly attest to Lacy being a good back. He'll definitely make GB's offense more potent.
Lacy is a great back...but can he stay healthy? SEC bro....living in Atlanta at least we have BCS champions in neighboring areas...stocked by talent that leaves the State. Too easy to lose around here....

**Edit** And another thing....The Iron Bowl winner has won the last 4 Crystal Balls....Not only has the BCS Championship stayed in the SEC the last 7 years, it hasn't left the STATE of Alabama for the past 4... Florida/LSU/Florida/Alabama/Auburn/Alabama/Alabama.....Give the BCS credit, they did finally match up 2 SEC against each other for the title in 2011 - Alabama vs. LSU. That was only scenario they could come up with for a SEC team to lose the big one...8-0 otherwise.

Remember the last game between the Pack and Falcons? :D

To be honest, I think the 49ers, Packers, and Falcons will be fighting each other for first round byes. The Falcons have a top tier passing game, a running game that should be better (though Jackson is aging and could've lost a step). The only question is their defense.
The last one was a "respectable loss", which is enough for most peeps round here...we play yall better @ the frozen tundra.
My heart still hurts from that game. :depressed: Not being a homer, but I don't think Jackson will lose a step. He actually has a decent o-line now (as long as they don't regress)

And our defense will probably blow the first month or so but become average as the season goes on. We'll have to score alot of points to win.
As long as they don't regress? Baker and Blaylock are the only two returning starters...center guard and tackle are new starters to their positions....I would say "as long as they gel". Might be ugly early in the season...

As far as the defense...we will have to score at least 30 (same as last year) to win. Must point out, the defense DID their job last year....30 points in the NFC Championship gets us to the Super Bowl. Shut out in the second half of that game....defense did their job...offense did not...Julio was not a factor in the second half, and we did not capitalize with Roddy, Harry or Tony when they were keying on Julio. So teasingly close last year..so teasingly close

Except during the regular season of the Packers' Super Bowl year we lost 20-17 if I remember correctly. Of course, Gonzalez dropped that catch, but we didn't have any challenges left, so it stood.

But I think the Packers are going to have a better home field advantage this year. The Packers added 7,000 seats in the south endzone, so the noise will be much louder, and the winds will be different. We now have the 3rd largest capacity in the league, which surprised me because I thought it was one of the lowest in the league.

Well, it's official. Dennis Pitta, TE for the Ravens, will miss the season with a fractured hip.

I was referring to Atlanta's loss to Green Bay the year after the Super Bowl, in the Dome. A late field goal put yall up by 2+ scores with under 2 minutes left to play. That was a far cry from our playoff performance the year prior....your punter never took a snap (unless he was the holder for the PK).

I remember the Gonzo "catch"...definitely didn't have it and lucky that was prior to the all scores are reviewed rule. If I remember correctly, Aaron fumbled on the goal line earlier in the game, and I am sure he was the leading rusher that day.

I just received my season tickets last week...looking forward to big things this year...Super Bowl VICTORY or bust here as far as I am concerned. Window is closing as Gonzo is going, Roddy is in his twilight, and Julio is about to get paid-he has the contract coming, has earned it, but what we pay him will not be able to be spent on other needs. In no way should that be misinterpreted that Julio shouldn't be given a huge contract; we should and I will applaud it when it happens. We finally have a player that is premier for his position, and we haven't seen that here since Deion and Michael....

I'm all about the Titans.
Got a good feeling we might surprise some folks this year...:)
You have a shot....Indy is nothing spectacular and Houston is the Atlanta Braves of the NFL: Nice Team, but they don't strike fear into many when playoffs arrive..

I don't even remember the game after the Super Bowl year.

Regarding the Julio Jones contract, he's a player that needs to be paid, IMO. He's one of the best in the league, and he's a core player. Teams have to keep their core players, you just cant have them kill your salary cap. If you look at Rodgers' new deal, his cap number never exceeds $20 in a year, whereas Flacco's does. We signed Matthews, too, this offseason to a monster contract, and we still are in great shape for the future. Ted Thompson (our GM) is a cap genius, and he's the reason we can get back to the playoffs year after year.

More unfortunate injury news. Dan Koppen, center for the Broncos, has suffered a torn ACL and will miss the season.

Notable players who will miss the season: Jeremy Maclin (WR- PHI), Dennis Pitta (TE- BAL), Dan Koppen (C- DEN)

Apparently there is some lawsuit floating around to try & get the Redskins name removed from Washington's team. Not sure ho much water the lawsuit holds, but still kinda interesting.

They've had these more than once, and this one started a few months ago. The name is kind of insulting...

I agree the Redskins name is racist, though I don't see how names like Braves & Chiefs are racist, as they are portraying Native Americans as noble warriors rather than mocking their skin color. Those names are (imo) no more racist than Cowboys, Rangers, or Mariners.

But Redskins? Yeah...that one needs to go.

We should also ban that Sunday School sing along:

"Red, and Yellow, Black and white,
We are precious in his sight."

As it implies that there is a difference in different races.

But to prove my point, how would:
"Redskins, Sand People, Negroes, and Pale Faces" sound as the song title?
Pretty bad, right? Hence the reason Washington's name needs to be altered.
