Age and money.. and poor performing draft choices coming up behind them. The straw has broken there and some rebuilding is needed. Good news is.. Ben is still young enough you can probably get 4+ more out of him if he doesn't snap :) But you definately need someone in the wings.. and its not gonna be Leftwich or Batch :)

Yep exactly. Rebuilding is what this team needs at every single position. Can we also please field a decent Special Teams on the field. It's bad enough the NFL has to help us by essentially moving the kickoff to the 35 or 40 yard line which generally guarantees a touchback. Honestly with how injured our OLine gets every year, Ben ain't gonna last another 2 imo. Which is why we need to draft a QB mid round. Hopefully Landry Jones is there. At least we signed local guy Bruce Gradkowski today to a 3 year deal. I think Batch should be our QB coach. Everyone loves him and respects him. They shoud go RB-1st round (Eddie Lacy) 2nd Round-DL/LB 3rd-Safety 4th-QB
5th- WR 6th-TE 7th-OL

The Steelers have finally hit the transition period. The players like Hines Ward and James Harrison are gone. They are starting to transition to a newer, younger squad. Polamalu is starting to get up there, Ryan Clark isn't that young. It's time for those backups to step up and do what the others did. Only time will tell. However, I see another 7-9, 8-8, or 9-7 season coming up during the transition period.

Sad I know. I'm feeling another Tommy Maddox 03 season where we go 6-10. God I can't believe I just referenced that salesman. We absolutely need an upgrade at saftey. Hopefully if that FL safety is available in rd 2, we can snag him. Ryan Clark is 32 now. Yes, the backups have to step up no question, problem is they aren't that promising considering where we drafted em at. Don't forget Aaron Smith and James Farrior too.

This draft is supposed to be a very good draft for safeties, d-linemen, and o-linemen. It's a "big guys" draft as I've heard it referenced multiple times. I'm excited about this draft because the Packers need help in every position that the draft is deep in.

And where you are drafted makes no difference. Talent is talent. Kurt Warner went undrafted, Joe Montana was drafted in the 3rd round, Tom Brady was 6th.

We will always have to reckon with them. And I will always bash the Steelers. I'm hoping they're bad again next year, even if my Ravens are also bad.

My cousin and her husband are Steelers fans. It's quite interesting on Sundays at my aunt's house...

We will always have to put up with you too. Which is why it's the greatest rivalry in the NFL. I will always /ignite a fire on a Raven's jersey anywhere in my sight. O believe me, we will be worse than your Edgar Allen Poe's, but that don't mean we will rock you, sock you, and drop you into the loss column. Have fun on Sunday's/Monday's/Thursday's/Saturday's at your Aunt's house.:)

*Cough* Packers/Bears *cough* :p

No, in all reality it's going to shift to the 49ers and Seahawks. Packers and Bears had their run, Steelers and Ravens had their. Time to move on. Sad, I know. :(

Yeah that's what I heard too. Good luck to your Packers. Remember, they beat my team in SB45 so there's something to brag about. I hear they're after Steven Jackson who I think is a great back who was so underused and more importantly surrounded by such terrible talent. Aaron Rodgers is the best. James Harrison went undrafted, cut 3 times, and won two super bowls. Tell me that ain't a great rags to riches story.

Flacco's cap number is actually lower this year then last due to the new deal.. but after about year 3 it gets ugly. Those types of deals always get restructured.. no one can afford them. I just hope we get 3 good years out of him and at that point we get to re-evaluate.

I've been excited about the news of Steven Jackson. Nothing official yet, but I hear we are the front runners. No pun intended.

We haven't had a real runner since before Ryan Grant's injury. I'd love the physicality he brings, too. He's a tough, pounding back with underrated pass catching skills. I feel sorry that he's been on such a crappy team. Sounds like Greg Jennings isn't getting the money he was looking for either, so a return to Green Bay is looking like a possibility.

James Harrison is one heck of a player, and he made a fantastic play in the Super Bowl against the Cardinals. However, I can't say I was rooting for the Steelers then either. :p Sorry, I'm a Kurt Warner fan.

seattle / 49ers / broncos are the ones all looking sweet and shiney right now... will be interesting to see how it shapes up over the summer.

In recent years, whoever wins March has never won January. Biggest example has been the Eagles. Nnamdi Asomugha, Cullen Jenkins, Jason Babin. None of them are on the roster anymore, and they got 9 wins total during their tenure with the team, I believe.

Yeah I'm hoping you guys get SJ and GJ. The Packers need to spend the majority of their draft picks on defensive skill players. I'll always miss those Harrison comments toward Goddell being that they were best buds. I like Kurt Warner on the NFL Network. I believe he adds great insight to that station and honestly perfer it more than ESPN. But I do watch both.

Our defense is young. I believe they have the talent, now they just need development. We were pretty banged up last year, too. A new safety would be a good addition, but we need an offensive line, too.

I honestly rarely watch ESPN. I find NFL Network to be so much more unbiased. Warner is an honest guy who is not hot head, and doesn't hold grudges against teams. I like their entire lineup. Marshall Faulk, Warren Sapp, Steve Marriucci. Well, I guess I'm not a huge fan of Deion Sanders or Michael Irvin. I really like Rich Eisen, too.

I'll take your word. Wait a minute, I thought our fearless leader of TWDC stated in the annual shareholder's meeting "we have no biased news. Everything is straightfoward and factual".;) I love Redzone btw. I love Jamie Dukes and all the ones you mentioned even when Warren Sapp called us old. I'm proud he had the common sense and guts to say that directly to this team.

True - but those teams all look great because of what they did last year and they've held it together and just added. Teams like 49ers especially are in a perfect storm of opportunity right now if Capernick continues his ride. Those teams are gonna be top picks because they are solid.. not because they won the trade lottery :)

I watch NFL network almost exclusively..

1) they don't play to idiots like steve smith, skip bonehead, etc
2) they don't waste my time with other sports besides the NFL :)
3) Nicole is such a hottie.. tho erin andrews really just keeps looking better and better :)

I'd love to be one of those guys on NFL Network. I like having talks about the NFL other than just, "that was a good game. Amazing touchdown at the end." I try to talk about it with friends, but they don't know who half the people are. Plus, some of my NFL friends are Bears fans. So biased. Every game they say that the Bears would have won had it not been for the refs. They have to protect "pretty boy Rodgers" so they have to throw the flag. But yeah, NFL Network is great. :D

I promise I had no intention of ranting. :p

Yeah, the 49ers and Seahawks have a better problem, but I'm just saying that in recent history, free agency isn't the way to go. You mainly have to build from the draft. Which is what the 49ers, Packers, Steelers, Seahawks, Patriots, etc have done over the years.

But the Eagles screwed themselves. Too much ego and star power on one team. Even when they were a playoff team they pretty much changed their defensive roster.

Or they'll say something like "If Ditka was on the sidelines, we wouldn't have coaching issues and be a well coached team". It takes players to win the game. Rodgers gets battered a lot and doesn't get flagged most of the time. Although if they made that statement towards a Brady or a Brees, then they have an arguement.

Yeah, Brady is the biggest case of "pretty boy" flags. Rodgers is a tough guy. They still point out his concussions that he suffered three seasons ago, whereas Cutler has had multiple injuries since then. But it's because of the offensive line according to them. Just saying, but the Pack's o-line is awful. Plus, Rodgers was wearing a helmet that is now banned in the NFL because of the concussion issues it brought.

I try not to talk smack to other people, but sometimes it's so hard. I honestly am around some of the cockiest Bears fans I've met almost everyday. If the Bears lose they want to shun the world and they get mad if you bring up the loss. I actually kind of like talking about a loss (not as much as a win, obviously). Talk about what we can do better, and how we are going to accomplish that.

I can't even stand being 20 ft near a Ravens/bungles/brownies fan, so I imagine it must be awful for you. I still have that image in my head in SB45 when he threw that great pass thredding the needle between Taylor and Clark to complete the pass to Jennings in 4th Quarter. That guy is just so accurate. So where on your Oline do you guys need upgrades?
