I am concerned about the Falcons being in the playoffs. Granted, I would like to see them go far and win their first Super Bowl ring, but I just don't see that happening. The way these matchups all look, the Falcons are small children trapped in a grownup's arena, and I fear they will be trampled once again. Matt Ryan is a good QB and very decent human being. Hopefully someday he can sign with a team which will get him to the SB. I hate to see his talent go to waste in the city of playoff disappointment, the same way I hated to see baseball's Chipper Jones trapped in a city which could not achieve him multiple WS titles, which he was certainly worthy of winning.
I agree! Chipper was certainly not going to lead to the Braves to a World series title; he would have had to be in a different city and not be the man the team was built around. He was more of a compliment player and proved he was not a leader.

Matt Ryan has more of a chance, only because there does not seem to be a dominant team this year. This year might be his best chance, and might be his last chance in Atlanta. Tony G and Michael Turner are both probably in their last year here, and Turner is not nearly as productive as he once was. We went out and got Julio to out punch other teams, lets see if we can do it. Defense is shaky.

Joe Webb scared me on that first drive. Then he had to start passing. He's lucky he didn't throw two more interceptions. I realize that we were playing a backup QB, but with no preparation and little changing of game plan, the Pack were very good. Can't wait to play in San Fran next week!

Looks like we have a nail-biter on our hands between the Seahawks & Redskins right now. 14-13 Washington in the 3rd qtr. These two teams should be passionate about today's game, because the winner of today gets a free ride to the NFC Champshionship game in 2 weeks.

I think the Falcons can put up a fight on either of these teams. However, I don't think they have what it takes to beat the 49ers or Packers.

Great defense!

HOU @ NE
BAL @ DEN
SF @ GB
SEA @ ATL

Both home teams in the AFC should win and the NFC games are both up in the air for me.

Pats, Broncos, Packers and Falcons win Divisional Round.
Broncos and Packers win Conference Championship.
Broncos win Super Bowl.

I want the Pats to win obviously, but their defense isn't strong enough to stop the Broncos. It was earlier in the season before they got rolling, but not at this point.

I still think people are putting to much faith in the Broncos! I believe either Baltimore OR the Pats can beat them. I'll be in the Dome next Sunday for the Falcons/Seahawks. If we can beat them, I think we have a better chance to out-punch Green Bay than San Fran. I like the Pats in the AFC.

To be honest, anything short of a Super Bowl championship will be a disappointment. I hope we are at least competitive, as the last time we were even in a game in the 2nd half was 4 years ago against Arizona. Don't want to lose at all, but another spanking would really be unbearable!!

I think the Broncos are overrated. They haven't had the toughest competition in the world. Look at their division. The weakest in the league. Put them in a division like the NFC North, AFC North or even NFC West and they have a more difficult path to the playoffs.

However, the Patriots can still be beaten by the Broncos, but it would be a close game. Manning has never been an all-time great in the playoffs, so I think the Pats will represent the AFC in the Super Bowl. For NFC I pick either the 49ers or Packers. Depends who can win this game.

There's no other sport where home field is a bigger advantage than football. And in Denver, even more so. Peyton knows how to control the crowd to keep them quite while on offense, and that place gets loud when they're on defense. Plus, I honestly feel, the biggest advantage (and somewhat unfair) is the altitude difference. When you're used to playing in it, it's much easier. When you're not, it can be difficult. The 2 offenses are similar. They both work fast, both QB's are the smartest in the game, and both have loads of weapons. Biggest difference is, Broncos have a much better defense, one that puts pressure on the QB. The Patriots put no pressure on the QB, and against a guy like Manning, that's a recipe for disaster.

My predictions for this weekend:

GB @ SF (GB: 27/SF: 24)
SEA @ ATL (ATL: 24/SEA: 20)
BAL @ DEN (DEN: 28/BAL: 23)
HOU @ NE (NE: 35/HOU: 20)

Green Bay and San Francisco will be a tight game and could very well come down to a field goal. The 49ers have been having bigger kicker issues lately than the Packers (Crosby has made 5 or 6 straight, one being from 50+ yards). In the end I see the quarterback's arm being the decision maker, and we know how both of the QBs match up. Also, Aaron Rodgers still has a chip on his shoulder from not being drafted by the 49ers which should give him extra motivation.

Seattle and Atlanta will be another close game, but I think Atlanta wins since Chris Clemons is injured now for the Seahawks. I think that will be the decision maker, plus the Seahawks showed little offensive firepower last week for the most part of the game.

Denver will end Ray Lewis' career. This game will come down to offense, and we know who has a better offense of the two.

Houston just can't match up with the Patriots. Brady will pick apart this iffy defense, and Schaub will continue with his struggles and ultimately the Texans will lose.

All day on local talk radio I have heard the typical Atlanta loser mentality about how we always run into a buzz saw in the playoffs. It is the same story no matter the Braves or the Falcons (or the Hawks during the '80s).

I guess, according to the fans around these parts, that it is impossible for the Falcons to ever be the buzz saw? Just bad luck huh?

Predictions for this weekend:

Balt over Denver 20-17
GB Over San Fran 31-14
NE over Houston 21-17
Atl Over Seattle 31-20

Those are some pretty weird scores compared to what I have been seeing! And Baltimore over Denver is a pretty bold prediction, mostly because everyone and their mother are picking the Broncos to win it all...

I think those scores all look about right except for Denver. I fully expect them to win somewhere in the range of 38-7. I will be shocked beyond belief if Baltimore wins that game. That would be the biggest upset of the Playoffs.
