Does anybody have any idea what's after The Year of A Million Dreams? i'm guessing that the 40th anniversary will happen from 10/10 through all of 2011, so we only have two years to fill with something....any prospects??

2009 looks to be a very light year in terms of new attractions.

American Idol should be open in late 08 or early 09, but everything else for 09 seems to be in the refurbishment category.

The Year of no Promotional Celebrations!

I don't think we're going to see anything big. I myself don't much care for it anyway. I don't think WDW needs it.

(To be honest, I think minor promotions are overrated by marketing agencies. Not just at Disney, everywhere in the tourist industry. I mean, I don't base my vacation plans on 'local celebrity X was born 175 years ago in Y'. Something truely major, and 'real', to capture the public's imagination, works to bring in new customers. Like 'Disneyland fifty years'. )

But this sort of promotion works better if Disney goes all out with a massive promotion every so often, then with rather dull minor promotions all the time.

My hunch is that they are preparing themselves, holding back as it were, for WDW forty years. Some big refurbishments of the major attractions, polishing up the rest of the park, one or two Big new rides, and a massive promotional campaign. Should be good!

Seriously, the "Magical Celebrations" thing sounds most probable, but I think that they should just cool it with those celebrations.

Read thedisneyblog.com, someone saw them filming a commercial.

I just hope that whatever campaign they scribble out this year doesn't involve slapping obnoxious banners and posters all over the parks.

It would be lovely if they had some sort of freebie towards your Magical Celebration.. yes yes I must be typing while under the influence...:hammer:

No, only "placing" "flamboyant and bright" banners and the "placing" of posters will not be all over the parks, only in "a select few areas"

I think the worst of it is on Main Street. Its such a nice view as it is, without big bright banners placed every few feet.
