Newsies and Hollywood Studios

I'm curious if Disney has ever done anything in the parks in regards to Newsies. I always thought if they were looking for a new show they could do something in Hollywood Studios in Streets Of America.

Obviously it looks like New York and Disney Theatrical Productions did an amazing job with the musical in my opinion. So yea, just curious if they've ever done anything with it.

And while we are at it - if they need more room they could just demolish the backlot tour ^_^

God bless the "Ignore" button.
Someone told me that they actually filmed part of the movie there... I don't know how, if at all, valid that statement is though.

its possible. there was a movie made back in the early 90s based off the musical :)

The musical is actually based off the movie. The movie is 20 years old and the stage musical is only 2 years old.

There once was a very short lived (one day actually) appearance of the Newsies at Hollywood studios for the 10th anniversary but that was it for the east coast parks. We may be seeing them again soon though.

I would LOVE to see something Newsies in the parks and it would fit so well at DHS. It would be a great way to do something with the SOA.

Please please please bring Newsies to HS!!! Saw it on Broadway earlier this year and it's fabulous! Would be an amazing addition to the park. It's got my vote, since obviously Disney cares ;) Why wouldn't they want to advertise another way families can spend money though? It makes sense doesn't it?

Sure does except management doesnt want to spend on new shows/entertainment where they dont have to. Stale= save a buck. Yet they can spend on adding more seats to Fantasmic but not spending on dire needed show upgrades, and the list goes on.[/quote]

But I don't think it would cost much more than they already spend... It doesn't need a set- just some amazing dancers and singers. The music stands on its own, and of course the dancing. Consider it like the High School Musical shows they did for so many years right at the end of the Streets of America! Just way better. :D

This was my thought as well. They already have the whole thing set up, don't really need much. Just some songs and dancing and the whole bit.
