Well it looks like the cat is out of the bag today on the Harry Potter Park and I have to say I think Disney's announcements and future additions far outweigh the HP Park. Just wanted to see what everyone thought. Here is the link for the additions they announced today.

I think Mickey is still kicking tail in Orlando.

I'd say they are equal,

FL
They are adding one Eticket, Dumbo, restaraunt, and a lot of theming.

HP
They are adding one Eticket rwtheming two rides, a restaurant, and a lot of theming.

That looks about equal to me.

I mostly agree with you but maybe the WDW additions are a little bit better than the Harry Potter stuff.
All in all I look forward to both WDW and Universal updates!

I agree they are about equal. I want to see HP. Where they differ is that FL has much more supporting parks to it than HP. Universal lost me when they went to far a a coaster park.

I still don't understand why people call IoA a "coaster park". Makes no sense. It's got the same number of coasters as MK-3.

As for the announcements, they're even.

OK so how is IOA a coaster park? They have Hulk and Dueling Dragons? 2 coasters.....yes they are 2 amazing ones, but still just two. I have always felt that IOA is still to this date one of the best themed parks in the US! That is what happens when you get ex WDI folks and throw money at them. Its downfall has been the lack of support it has gotten since it opened. Really 3 attractions in like 8 or 9 years????? It is far from a coaster park and while I think HP will give it a great bump, it still it a few attractions behind being a full day park.

Never been to Universal...but it will be a must try it after HP is complete...ok, we were also waiting on DD to get taller and more adventurous. Happily both should happen around the same time (she's 7 now) and it will take something like Harry Potter to lure her off Disney property...she's a big fan of both.

The Disney expansion is interesting too...I'm just a creature of habit. Don't mess up too much of the old fantasyland when making the new...will Dumbo still run as is until the new thing is open in another location or will it be in the same place?

I am equally excited for both things. The theming looks great for both, I believe the FL expansion will have a more magical feel, but the HP land does seem really cool. I will be down in WDW nov10, and I will definitely be spending a day over at universal to see HP. Not sure which is better though, going off concept art can be a little tricky...

At worst, the two announcements are equal. But if I had a gun held to my head, I'd say that the Wizarding World of Harry Potter beats out the Fantasyland expansion for the following reasons:

*Groundbreaking e-ticket (Mermaid has been done before-Mansion)
*can be enjoyed by all ages
*lots of things to explore from a world only seen on film and read about in books
*unique merchandise and food
*Universal is using their money wisely
*WANDS!

Fantasyland will look nice, be fun for kids, and feature what should be worthy omnimover attraction that is way past due.

The reason I think of Islands of Adventure as a "coaster park" is because when I visit, my day is dominated by thrill rides.

While technically only Hulk and Dueling Dragons might be roller coasters, the whole day consists of one thrill ride after another, so I think of Islands as a coaster park.

You can dissect it or disagree with it, but that's how I view it.

That said, I still think it is good for Central Florida that it exists, and I try to check it out once every two or three visits down. I was just there a week ago.

Ennnhhhh...I know it's gonna' be great, buy they meh'ed the cow on this announcement. Throw in an animatic or scene model, nothing too spoiler-ey to hype the attraction if you want excitement. They didn't show anything at all about the ride...only the generic name. Hype your star player all ready!

Anyways, as for actual content, Harry Potter will be good. Probably better than Fantasyland no doubt.

Carsland however, will be a trillion times more awesome than both of them though.

Do you really think that? I guess its maybe because it is my least favorite pixar movie by a sizable margin that I am not so excited about it. Are the rides supposed to be that ground breaking?

I feel both expansions are equal but great. I wanted a change and an expansion to MK and were getting a good one. HP looks to be very good and will be on my list to see when my stay at Disney is completed. I do not think that IoA is a coaster park. If you have been on the Mummy I would call it a coaster interaction ride. Up until Rip-Ride-Rocket they had Dueling Dragons and the Hulk. Now look at the other rides like, Rip Saw Falls, Jurrassic Park, Spider Man, Doctor Doom and The Doom Bots, Cat in the Hat and so on. I am a huge Disney fan but lets be fare hear when you say IOA is a coaster park. I have to disagree with that statement. Now with Uni and Disney going head to head on expansions and rides, every one has to look at the big picture. Look at all the FUN we are ALL going to have with both these places.

I have to go with Disney being the winner because frankly I don't know anything about WWoHP because their marketing people haven't told us anything.

Everything of interest from HP at IoA has come from whylightbulb on these forums, that is screwy! Come on Uni!

However, I have alot to evaluate Disney's FL expansion so far and I think I just like it better, I love the look of the themeing for the new area, it looks amazing.

I also like The Little Mermaid as a film better than any of the Harry Potter films, granted I never read the books.

So until Uni tells us more all I see is a really well themed area with two old attractions that were so-so to begin with being re-themed and a new dark ride that is called "revolutionary" but yet nobody tells us why it will be so.

I think this is really a case of 'let's see what both of them actually build'.

Personally, I am excited by the FL expansion, but not overwhelmingly so. I am not into Harry Potter, but it could work. I'll give both the benefit of the doubt for now.
At any rate, I am eagerly anticipating both and hope to see them for myself. This goal at the very least both parks have achieved.

I am very happy about Universal having forced WDW to improve its game!!

This will be one of the coolest things they can do, IMO, especially if they make them work throughout the park like I heard they will.

So I'm guessing no one here has been to Magiquest? If I recall correctly, they are the ones behind this right? I myself loved it the first time, but lost interest in it. However, it can become addicting, and will take away from most families' ride time (not saying it's a bad thing). I live in South Carolina and they have a Magiquest in Myrtle Beach. I'm guess since I have done it already, this is what I am least looking foward to from HP. I'm sure first timers will be fascinated and love this aspect of the experience. You have to buy a wand the first time, then pay a fee per hour. If they do this at Uni, it can get costly!!! Hopefully, it will be a pay-per-day thing. I'm also curious if we will be able to our wand bought from other Magiquest locations?

And they shouldn't have any problem making them work throughout the park. The Great Wolf Lodge in Concord, NC (indoor waterpark resort) has used it all over their property. With the money Uni has, it shouldn't be a problem at all.

I am more excited about HP additions because they appeal to me more that the FL expansion.

Although i'm happy about both, and I hope this begins one up manship between the two parks.

Why people consider IOA a coaster park is beyond me.

I have high hopes for both but I am going to throw my vote to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

Not to mention it must be thought of as going to be damn good and we should all be grateful because if nothing else the project is what got WDW to finally focus on MK in the first place.

Disneys Announcemnts are better than Uni. buuuuuuuuuuut Harry Potter is goign to take Ioa to another level and is going to have a bigger impact than fantasyland!!

Think of all the die hard Harry potter fans in the world wating for this. Potter doesn't only attract girls it attracts boys and diffrent genrations too!!:fork::shrug::ROFLOL:
