New Star Wars Fireworks Show - 'Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular'

Sorry if this has been asked before, but what is the logistics of getting from F! to a location with a good view of the Star Wars fireworks. Do you have to leave fantasmic early to avoid the crowds when exiting?

Also, can you do Fantasmic and a Star Wars desert party?

The calendar for the first week of July was just released and it has Fantasmic at 9 and fireworks at 9:15, so if that keeps up then I would assume not...

I understand the many issues with sight lines, but if you are in the right spot, this show is above and beyond anything I've seen at DHS

Symphony in the Stars and Frozen are among some of the best fireworks design in recent times for me. The new show is much more of a multi-media show, with much less of an emphasis on fireworks. I think some will prefer it, others not so much.

I agree with that point. If you're coming for fireworks, you might possibly leave with a little less than you had in mind, but IMO, if you're coming for a Star Wars nighttime spectacular, this fits that bill exceptionally.

Still a very odd choice to skew the remote launch off axis. Constraints taken into account.

Especially when capacity - and especially in this park - is taken into account.

Yeah, I still don't fully understand why they put the launch in that location. Seems like they could/should have been able to put it in line with Hollywood Blvd which would have at least made viewing the fireworks easier for more people. The projections would still suffer but I think it would have been a greater crowd pleaser.

I tend to like the projection tech more when it is used for new, unique images rather than just showing existing films on different surfaces. For example, the ToL Awakenings

I'm curious with the opening of other lands, that nighttime entertainment actually might be not in the center.

Going from just seeing videos, I think it is clear that there is potential with the setup they have here. They have all the special effect elements they could possibly need for a fantastic show. And there's alot of really good moments in the show, specifically the times where we are put right in the middle of a scene, like the space battles.

The problem is the amount of moments where its just still photos of characters or moments that go by too fast. But that can be changed since its all projections. It might be difficult to really build the scenes into a story, but I'm sure it could be done. Have Yoda or Maz tell a story about the triumphs and battles of the Jedi. That would still cover most of the same material and would have better flow.

I'm also very confused about the lack of low level pyro centered behind the theater. They shoot off plenty from the Great Movie Ride showbuilding to the left, so it can't be impossible. That would add a good punch to alot of the scenes, and give people on Hollywood Boulevard something to see. Plus, throw in projections and effects on Hollywood Boulevard. Easy and practical solution to add capacity. Imagine the trench run on Hollywood Boulevard. That could be a show highlight.

Still, looks cool if your in the right spot.

Ok so opinions bc I am waiting for F! dinner packages to be released. We've sen Fantasmic, it's our fave show at WDW. But my kid is a Star Wars nut... so should we skip the dinner package, skip fantasmic, and just do the Star Wars Desert Party instead?

That's the whole point. I would prefer front and center but it's not an option. You would have to shut down the new Toy Story Land when it's built. Maybe a little longer behind the theatre until construction is done but then no more after that.

Here are my "let's be real" thoughts-

This show ruins what made all DHS firework shows so awesome. They removed the amazing line of rooftop launches... WHY? And the fireworks off to the side kills it for anyone not watching in the hub. It ruins the amazing view that was offered across the lake.

This is a wannabe Disneyland Forever. What holds it back is you can't watch it from anywhere except the hub, and that the fireworks are awful (in a park that once offered the best fireworks). Guest relations will hopefully get tons of complaints from guests who waited on Hollywood Blvd just to see nothing.

The projections are very nice and crisp and make up 90% of the show.

Don't get me started on how they ruined the finale... So weak now compared to the old Symphony & uses the same soundtrack.

This is essentially a more expensive version of Universal's Cinematic Spectacular (projection show with fireworks only viewable from certain locations)

Is nobody going to bring up Sorcery in The Sky?

The new fireworks launch site is across World Drive -- I wouldn't think they would need to shut down any part of the park given that.

Immediately behind the Chinese Theater is Pixar Place and TSMM. They'd have to shut those down to have low-level pyro behind there, like they did for previous shows.

Firing over the GMR show building is fine because you have enough clearance. Perhaps things will change in a few years once Toy Story Land opens and the current Pixar Place becomes backstage area.

And as others have kinda mentioned, with Star Wars Land going at the back of the park, it might be designed to offer it's own views of the main launched fireworks.

So last night I did not catch F! because I wasn't sure if that would make me miss part of the show. However, about two weeks ago a friend and I watched F! and quickly booked it over to where I stood last night to see the old show. The backstage gate beside BaTB was open so we were able to duck out there and scamper up Sunset, across Hollywood, and over to Echo lake. We walk fast so that was a factor but I feel confident in saying it is definitely possible if the show isn't schedule right after F! (
HS closes at 7 when we will be there. Show times haven't been released yet. I've never been during the Christmas holidays, so I have no clue of schedules. Just waiting...

I imagine the reason they wanted to get them launched from a new location is because the past launch site was from the Lights Motors Action! Practice lot by the creative costuming building. As we know construction is taking place there so its either new rides or farther away fireworks at this point. (It's also not too bad to have the rides open for people who dont care much about the fireworks. Toy Story closing early puts a major strain on the rest of the park.

Sure. But why couldn't they build them further south (but still on the other side of World Drive) where it would have been lined up with Hollywood Blvd?
