New "Soarin'" photos!!

When I went on it in March the queue impressed me. It is wide and long, but just kinda added to the grand feeling of the entire attraction and ride itself. It gave a good build up to riding. As for the width, I would personally rather stand in a wide queue and some space then have it real narrow and tight.

Just on a side note....ever since I first rode Soarin' at DCA I have always thought it would be amazing if it was in 3D, or any film using this ride system. Anyone else think that might be fun? (They would probably need barf bags and have to scoop up the glasses that fell on the screen after each show though, lol)

Seems like quite a stunning queue theming and decor wise - I love the retro feel too (almost a nod to If You Had Wings, for those who know what i`m talking about! Any hidden seagulls?? )

I like the wideness too; groups can stay `grouped` and not in one long line (plus I assume since it won`t be the largest capacity attraction at Epcot waiting won`t seem claustrophobic)

As for the queue length, remember the show building is separate from The Land.. you have to walk through the old Theatre queue area, holding area, load, the theatre itself, and only then the connecting building and finally into the Omnimax building and its associated queue layout. At least its indoors, and should keep The Land clear of waiting guests as said earlier! Now I can`t wait to see the new Land interior in full and new guest flow layouts...

Test Track and Mission Space aren't much longer than that. In their cases, they essentially constitute the entire pavilion whereas Soarin' does not. . .
True... Test Track is 5 minutes and 34 seconds while Mission: Space is only 3.5 minutes.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that IMMEDIATELY thought of If You Had Wings when I first saw that departures pic with the globe

This queue impresses the heck out of me. I was expecting much less, especially in the Fast Pass age. Sure it's kinda simple, but less was more here I think.

You work at Test Track, right? Can I ask how you got that time? The absolute longest I can get (based off of the video on this site) is 4:25, and that's if you count the trip up to the seatbelt check and the wait at the end of the ride to get back to the station. Am I missing something obvious? I see there is a cut in the video in the corrosion room, but that can't account for more than 5-10 seconds.

Sorry to be such a stickler here. I don't mean to come off as a jerk. It's just that the last time I thought I was right about something it turned out I was wayyy off. Just making sure I'm not crazy.

Ik... I actually don't care for the queue at all :hurl:.. that doesn't say anything about the ride, but in my opinion, the queue looks rather hideous

There's always bound to be someone who doesn't like it...no big deal.

I personally like it a lot.

It appears that you enter from backstage just inside of Soarin' (after a short hallway) through the doorways that used to lead to the Behind the Seeds tour (correct me if I'm wrong here).

There is obviously temporary drywall to your right at the end of this short wallway that separates you from the Land pavilion proper. The pavilion is just on the other side of this drywall (this is clear from seeing it from both sides). The new entrance to Soarin' looks to actually extend slightly into the Land whereas before Food Rocks and Kitchen Kabaret's entrances where basically flush with the wall.

You immediately encounter the round "ticket counter", fastpass machines and line entrances which are all in the old Food Rocks queue.

The Soarin' queue begins in the old Food Rocks theater. You enter the queue and make a right, hook back to the left 180° and then make another right and you are out of the theater. The stage from FR is right behind the right wall in the 180° turnaround, although I don't know if anything is still back there (doubtful, really). If you look at the attached pictures (link) you can see the high ceiling of the theater as you are exiting this area.

The rest of the Soarin' queue seems to be all new stuff.

I didn't see any hidden seagulls, but hang glider has the same flavor to me.

I like the queue area, although I will admit from the pics I saw, the CA one has a little more of an aviator's touch. It has props and poster from famous flights around the country, etc. Still can't wait to ride it though.

The more pictures I see, the more I think the original EPCOT Imagineers worked on WDW's Soarn' and LAND renovations. The area really has that BIG "old Epcot" feel. I really think I'll like it.

I hope the team that works on an updated EES can do this good a job.

I think the Soarin' logo is nice! It has a very simple look to it and it feels like it fits in Epcot.

Soarin' itself doesn't seem to fit, not in the Land at least, and the changes they are making to the inside of the Land to match the style of Soarin' don't look much like the old Land either, but I'll reserve judgement until the pavilion is actually complete.

The new Land logo looks very good actually, it's really fresh and modern, which is just what the Land needs. The logos on either side of the entry doors look very pretty in person.

I would reserve judgement until you've seen both first hand.

(from the patent)

Thanks for the diagram. With this information and the pictures posted on another site (thanks for the link) plus the descriptions I've read from preview riders here at WDWMAGIC; I think I can imagine the ride experience. I assume the ride sways and swings to simulate the flight?

I feel sorry for those CM's during the summer months. Those jacket and pants look extremely hot. A friend of mine is a Soarin' CM and he said the walk from cast services to the attraction was horrific and he said it wasnt even that hot.

My wife and I were the uniforms, they do look extremely uncomfortable and itchy. Not to mention the 1970 airline pilot and stewardess motiff, I wonder if they were left overs of the "If you had Wings" attractions from the same time period?

I never realized they were that long. Soarin seems to be much shorter than TT. I waited 45 min. on saturday to ride Soarin and it was only 5 min.
