this has probobly been posted before but i looked and i couldnt find it. i was looking throgh my unofficial guide and was reading "a peek behind the scenes with jim hill" when i found this:

"A Coming Attraction? The flying sequences where Donald is flying high over London with Peter Pan and Tinker Bell as well as zooming through the streets of Agrabah on a flying carpet are suposedly tests for a "Fantasy Flight" attraction that the Imagineers are considering. The proposed attraction would use the same ride system found in Epcot's Future World attraction, Soarin."

I know this is a Jim Hill rumor but this sounds pretty cool. any thoughts.

that would render that same sequence in Philharmagic obsolete. besides we already have Soarin', it's probably just an idea that will never come to fruition.

I generally discount greatly anything that precedes that statement.

Actually, it seems that he was talking about Philharmagic.

this is the same unofficial guide that said a few years ago (2004 edition) that Expedition Everest would be "more like Big Thunder Mountain". I don't think i'd take what they say about future plans with a grain of salt.

On a related note, I heard that there was a preliminary idea to put Soarin' in Africa at DAK and make it Soarin' over the Sahrengetti (instead of putting it at Epcot). Kinda sounds cool, but I don't think there's as many different sites they could have done that way.

I dont know where I read it but I remember hearing a similar quote about Expedition Everest being like Big Thunder Mountain, however in the context it made perfect sence in that the ride would be a family coaster with a lowish height restriction similar to Big Thunder as opposed to Rock 'n' Roller which has a higher height restriction and inversions etc.

Ever think Imagineering may be tinkering with the idea of using a similiar type of ride system that Soarin is in Tomorrowland, but making it space travel? Don't have to design the seats to be hang gliders, but rocket ships.. or space shuttles... We all know Disney has a knack for taking a ride system and plussing it somehow.. Actually, i think this would be a terrific Star Wars attraction... Soaring through the worlds of Star Wars.... Encountering a space battle, running the trench in the Death Star.... Would be similiar to Star Tours now I guess, with the Death Star scene, but it would be so much more fun, and less jerky...

I think Mission Space has set the bar for space travel simulation. When you talk about space simulation, its all about the feeling of Gs. Soarin doesnt deliver Gs. Soarin is great for simulating gentle flight (as it does so well in Soarin), but Mission Space is THE ride system for space simulation.

interesting, Soarin Over the Seregngetti would have been fantastic, in my opinion, all thos animals just grazing beneath you, a huge stampede or migration happening right below you, the smell of elephant dung filling your face, the peak of kilimanjaro...that could have been fantastic really. I guess this is all the more reason to switch the current california film into a Soarin' Over The World.

True.. but my thinking is that a lot of people do get sick from M:S.. so a gentle simuation would work...

This could very well be true. I had read that during the 50th Anniversary the California version of Soarin' would be used. I had also read in the same article that once the 50th celebration was over, it would be changed to a flight sequence involving the orlando location or some type of animated flight sequence. I can't remember where I read it, but it was probably a park map or Disney web site, as I am new to these types of forums.

There is talk of Soarin` and Philharmagic being cloned for WDSP Phase 2 - possibly this is where this story comes from, as a combined attraction for Paris (since, as S.E.A. says Philharmagic has this sequence)

You bet me to it :)

A hybrid of the two atractions does seem like quite a good idea, and would be a great (as well as relatively cheap) addition to the Studios.

that would be quite clever and beautiful. I wanna see it replace Animagique.
