To add to your point why not leave all FW attractions open passed 7:00pm? Oh wait, forget consumer choice because that might keep more people in FW and less people buying drinks in the WS.

75%+ of Future World is open until 9pm. The only things that close at 7pm are Energy and Innoventions.

It doesn't matter if that is his employer's existing policy.. and since he is the one collecting the paychecks... I think he would be familiar with his existing overtime policy. And we are talking Disney - not anyone else.

You forgot the closure of Journey to Imagination, Captain EO, and The Land. That revises the calculation a bit.
But we sure know the agenda of many posters in this thread. Disney=bad.

That's not true. We just want Disney to continue to provide the excellent experiences that made them famous to begin with, so we get critical when we see things happening that we don't like.

If Disney = Bad then most posters would not waste their time here. The vast majority of us are passionate fans who critique park management because the parks have given us great enjoyment over the years, and we don't want said enjoyment to be reduced.
How does this work? I feel like this just doesn't make sense. I mean, if you expect a super busy day, giving out more FPs just makes the FP line slower, which in turn makes the SB line slower. Are Merge CMs having to adjust their merge ratios more often? Like being at a phase two more often than usual? I guess if you just increase the ratio, you could keep the FP line the same length no matter how any extra FPs are coming through (to an extent anyway), but then standby just gets that much longer. And it's already longer to begin with if it's extra busy. Plus, with a 3 FP limit, everyone is gonna end up waiting in at least a couple of (now longer) standby lines. They're just gonna end up using the time they saved in the FP line for the longer wait in SB.
On the other hand, if it's a slow September day, why lower the number of FP? Most lines won't be long to begin with. I would think a majority of guests could get the FPs they wanted on slow days if they didn't lessen the amount.
I honest to God think Disney is overthinking the whole Fastpass thing.

The MDE app shows all three of those as open 9a-9p today.

That's why so many people complain about every single decision that the company makes. That's why people are up in arms when the company runs a queue test in the middle of the week.

These attractions stay open when EMH is at EPCOT and in the evening. EMH happens to be at EPCOT tonight so that is why the app is showing this. All other night said attractions close at 7:00pm.
Edit for clarification: The Land pavilion does not close just the Living with the Land boat ride and Circle of Life movie. Soarin and the food court remain open.

Not sure why people seem so upset over this. Disney's actually trying to do something to improve in park experience for guests by looking at new ways to get them out of line. Sure, I get that everybody thinks Disney needs to build more high caliber attractions to balance out the park(s) and reduce the need for such a system, but until they do, we are all going to have to make do with what's there.
Personally, I like this approach. It gets me out of standing in line for 2+ hours if I don't have a Fastpass+ and allows me to go do something else, which might include making a purchase. So, it's a win for them and me too!
