New Return Procedure at Soarin'

I just went through the process of planning out FP+ for a week long vacation. Yes, it's exciting to plan on what rides you're going to go on, but the reality is now I'm committed to these or I risk losing marquee attraction. Also, more than 30 days out I couldn't get FP+ for any of the days I wanted for Mine Train.

I maintain that the best mix is the following:
  • 1 advanced Fastpass+ reservation
  • 1 additional Fastpass+ reservation available upon entering the park
  • Both Fastpass+ reservations can by cycled, meaning that once used you can get a new one depending on availability.
  • Eliminate tiers
  • Eliminate Fastpass+ on attractions that don't need it.
  • Make everything available on the app - right now after your first 3 FP+ are used, you have to use the kiosks to get more. Also integrate DAS into the app.
They also still need to improve the interface online and on the mobile app. What I really dislike is when you have a group of 2 and only 1 FP+ is available. It's not easy to check a single person availability for a particular attraction.

But the tiers have to be there so that other guest do not miss out on their chance to get a FP+ for high demand attractions like the Mine Train. Oh wait....

Listen buddy, you had your chance to wake up at 6am 60 days from the day you plan to ride SDMT and book a FP+ just like everyone else.

What's that? You are an AP holder, and you can't book 60 days out? Well too bad sucka. What's that? You booked your trip at 55 days out? Too bad sucka!!!

I will just wait in the stand-by line at 10:00pm when everyone is watching the fireworks and the line is short. So who is the sucka now?

What? they handed out all of the reserve stand-by line passes out by 5:00pm while I was at AK! DANGIT!!!!!!!!

I agree there are no days with the Mine Train FP+, there are no days with the frozen meet and greet and I'm going the last week of August. It's not the busiest time of the year. The system is flawed. Majorly flawed. Even dumber is that since I'm an annual passholder from NJ going to Disney for 8 days, I can't even book out FP+s for my final day. This system is ridiculous. They should have kept regular fastpass+ at the attractions and you could walk up and pick from a group of available times. None of this booking ahead non-sense.

You know I'm really getting tired of these card things. The Anna and Elsa meet and greet thing is pretty annoying (I have only seen them with standby once. And it was on a night where Mk was open untill 1 am. We got to see them 30 minutes or so after the fireworks and we only waited maybe 20 minutes. The other time I saw them was when I got pretty lucky during the 24 hour party and we got fastpasses.) I mean if you have someone in your party who doesn't get up to be at the park before it opens, it's doesn't really help. Also the fp+ thing is in there too.

Idk it was okay with the Frozen show (I was at the last day of SWW this year and it was hard to get a good seat even in the last show..) and Jack Sparrow. But for lines? It just sort of messes it up. :(

According to the CMs at the kiosks, this is the plan, but they have no idea when it will happen. It should have happened already, honestly, and the app does not indicate that you have to visit a kiosk to add additional Fastpasses.

Those kiosks are awful. The concept of waiting in line to reserve a FP?? o_O:grumpy:
Well, the idea is that eventually everything will be done on the app, and the kiosks will be there as backup, so they won't be in high demand. I haven't seen a line more than two or three parties deep for the kiosks in a while.

I know it's been high season, but I saw pretty long lines in mid May and in early July. Especially at the Tomorrowland and Adventureland locations. If everything will be done from the app, that's fine. But can you imagine if/when it goes down?

Also we found out the hard way that (as of May; not sure if they changed it yet) they couldn't change/alter an existing FP+ in another park. So if you left DAK before your last FP+ there, you couldn't change it to one in MK until the time expired. Which was frustrating. And at some point on July 4, the app stopped working. So everyone piled up at the kiosks demanding answers.

First week in June has 10-15 minute lines at the Frontierland kiosks (they need another station back by BTMRR/Splash until the app is activated). So, to avoid waiting in line, you wait in a different line (or run over to Storybook Circis, which is a bit of a haul from Frontierland).

I know this was sarcasm, but the elimination of tiers can be applied after the other changes (reducing it to 1 advanced booking and 1 additional day of).

Yeah, instead you can spend hours at home or on the app doing it...
If something goes wrong at the parks and you can't cancel it (or the app is broken) as I said above, you have no choice but to deal with the kiosk.

But anyway. Back to this bad new return procedure.

The amount of time a family spends planning their FastCrap+ from home and changing it 'on the fly', and/or visiting a kiosk, saves no time whatsoever compared to legacy fp. I can walk from Soarin over to TT in 5 minutes. And, as predicted... we're seeing attractions booked solid at 60 day window, so it's back to rope drop if you wanna ride 7DMT with a low wait time (remember how many people said having to be at rope drop for certain attractions was a thing of the past now that we have fp+ lmao) Well done, Disney. You spent 2 billion dollars to come full circle.

I'm booking FP+ right now with a stop watch. Each day is 5-7 minutes, most of which is spent waiting for the website to load guests, load a date, and the load your selections. Having multiple clicks to get something done is already more steps than what was available previously, the fact that each click requires 1-2 minutes of load time is even worse.

Playing around with it even further, on the website you can cancel individual Fastpass+ reservations for individual guests. On the app you have to cancel all Fastpass+ reservations that an individual has made. You can still modify them for each guest, but cancelling single FP+ reservations no the app does not seem to be an option.

You're wrong. People on magic told me(during the testing phase) that I would always be able to book my favorite attractions even day of.

This is back when I coined the term SOL+.

I was wrong they were all right

Isnt it funny. I remember so many people saying you would still be able to book FP+ for marque attractions "day of" when the system fully rolled out. So many people were yapping about how they would never have to do rope drop again because they could book a FP+. If you think about it, the system is flawed from the get-go. If MM+ does indeed draw more people to the parks, then there will be more people making FP+ reservations months in advance thus causing the same effect you get with the dining reservations.

Now they are back to the original plan of handing out paper FP (A&E and Soarin) to alleviate crowds and the same people are defending it, saying its only to help you not have to wait in a long line. lmao. If your not waiting in line for A&E your either waiting in a different long line or, (and this is the REAL reason theyre doing it)......buying food/merch at the shops. It all comes back to Rassulo's remark of "getting a bigger share of your wallet" The BoD is not seeing that "bigger share of the wallet" yet, so now they are doing everything they can to get you out of line and to spend, spend, spend, so they can claim the profits are coming from their billion dollar reservation system that has done little more than cut the same pie into different shapes. Same thing for all the hard ticket events. Its the cheapest way to create nothing but charge people for it because its a different time of day. I cant put all the blame on Disney though because people are lining up and paying top dollar to eat food at night, or have snacks with Anna and Elsa. But as you said, they are right and you are wrong. At least the SOL+ didnt cost 2 billion dollars and those of us who see it for what it really is know what we get with it.

Ya, I would much rather the good 'ole days when I had run from Splash to Space Mountain to wait in line a 10 minute line for a piece of paper while the rest of my family takes a spin on the Tea Cups so they can 'do something' until we all have to walk in the monsoon that had just arrived to ride the Jungle Cruise because I cannot change the time on that piece of paper to better adjust my schedule due to the rain.

Your right, those kiosks are awful...

So your saying that the monsoon doesn't affect you if you use a kiosk? And why wouldn't you get a fp for Space Mountain before heading all the way over to Splash? I guess people think MDE makes you more intelligent.
