I just can't get past the fence and rocks by the water. I wonder if they'll keep that "feature" as the new tower is built? I guess they must to keep us safe from that terribly dangerous lake. They could make the fence taller I suppose, add some razor wire. Maybe they could put up some lcd screens showing the old beach at the waters edge.

Yeah it sucks for that 10yo kid that was killed by an alligator because he was able to wade into that same lake. I would go ahead and complain to Poly management about how those rocks are ruining your vacation. I am sure they will be sympathetic.

You do know that there was water sports in the lake for over twenty years, don't you? The incident you're talking about is due to lax Disney maintenance of the property. The removal of water activities from the lake also makes the water quiet and more attractive to aligators. Regardless, it's a tragedy for that family. And, a tragedy for fans of the Poly.

Lane was 2. It had nothing to do with anything other than pure tragedy because a family had no clue about alligators at night. Not blaming family, they didn't know. Water sports were still on bay lake and water sprites on seven seas lagoon as well. The ropes had to go up since people would go in the water. Alligators rarely attack but the conditions were right with time of day and small size of Lane. If they didn't put fencing up and it happened again, it would be unforgivable. My heart goes out to Lane's family. I cannot imagine.

As a lifelong Polynesian lover saying it is a tragedy for ropes to be put up is honestly kind of sad. No way does it bother me. Especially knowing the cause.

What’s with the snark?

I knew I’d seen some photos so I answered. Not sure what the timing has to do with it.
Sorry, I misinterpreted your post and assumed you were being sparky as I had posted asking status before the pics were posted and had replied to Tuvalu`s post to thank him before you commented.
