Availability depends on what your booking and when, an Old Key West Grand Villa at Christmas time is something you need to book 11 months out, Wilderness Lodge and Bay Lake Tower are hard to get in the summer...

I'm not sure why people love a single room with 2 showers so much, 2 bedrooms have 2 showers some have 3... The Poly's standard hotel rooms are the largest on property, and the DVC in the longhouses is about 350 of those rooms and that's it, 2 showers, not a lot of places to store your clothes in those rooms though...

If you like staying in the Poly before, buying into that hotel's DVC is a much more affordable way to stay there for the next 50 years, but before the Poly added a DVC, it was the resort existing DVC members most requested a DVC be added to... The first one was a disappointment, and the second one isn't going to be like "staying at the Poly" it's going to be like "staying at a fancy Holiday Inn next door to the Poly" ...they seem to be dropping the ball twice
Christmas time you need to book asap if you care where you are anywhere. But nope on WL and Bay Lake in the summer. I travel often June first and we've had Bay Lake a number of times and WL as well (both). Though we're opting for VGF which I managed to snag a standard view 2 bedroom.

I'll state again (I think - if not ignore that and realize I posted the same coming thing elsewhere on this forum lol) I took a shower at the same time as my 14yo last week. We loved having the two showers. That was the only thing that made a studio only stay tolerable for us for the 3 nights. I really would've preferred a 2 bath 1 bed but I don't love BLT and AKL is still missing its charm thanks to lack of international workers. Storage is in different spots. People forget to look under bed and in the chest.

Polynesian rooms are among some of the largest yes. They are also relatively easy to book since there are 360 of them and they are higher points than SSR or OKW. I was one of the DVC members who bought first day PVB went on sale. I do adore the resort. The first wasn't a disappointment really though we prefer 1 or 2 bedrooms. Doing 2 connecting studios makes it livable for longer stays. The second one will be like staying there and using the resort because - gasp - I'll be there. No different than doing a bungalow that is nothing like the original rooms. Sure it might look different but it will just be another building much like VGF has 2 buildings coming up. No big deal to me. Each will be slightly different but likely the same south pacific vibe.

So not all of us share your opinions. They didn't drop the ball the first time to me. I doubt they will a second. I will be lining up to add on about 70 more points to my current PVB bucket - currently almost 40% of my points are there.

We were just at the Poly last week for our second DVC stay there, and they didn't drop the ball at all, and if the concept art is fairly accurate, they won't be dropping it again.
By the time the new DVC tower opens Disney will have completed conversion of POLY to a Holiday Inn. Maybe a Marriott
I have stayed at Marriotts all over the country and driven by literally hundreds of Holiday Inns, and not one of them looked like the concept art for the new Poly tower. You guys need to get a new game. The constant comparisons that are so off are just getting tiring.

But are you guys the outliers or the majority?

And even if it’s more close to even…who is Disney selling to now?

They’re certainly not angling DVC to the “kitchen crowd” these days
I’ll also pipe in with disagreement on this.

We’re 2%ers and we appreciate having extra amenities like a table or a kitchen or a microwave. Even if we don’t use it, it’s nice to have the option.

Also we have a one and a half year old, so there’s that.

Yeah, I’ll agree that there’s a very recent history of Vegas style towers with no soul going up in Disney, but the Poly one doesn’t seem to be in that mold.

I think you need to actually book a room and go inside a Marriott, Holiday Inn or Comfort Inn. You'll see simularities in the overall theme of the rooms, including amenities that you're getting in your DVC. Getting your money's worth is important. Glad you're enjoying your DVC.

Yeah. I don’t know what holiday Inn’s people are staying at. A location in Singapore that goes so far above and beyond the brand standard? Lol

When my kids were little it was a huge advantage to have a separate living and bedroom space. Little kids go to bed early and nap and it’s really very nice to have a separate room to hang in. It wasn’t until recently as my kids approached being teens that it didn’t matter as much since they end up going to sleep after I do most nights :)

If you’re putting those three brands in the same category, I’m not sure you understand what they offer and what their standards are. Marriott and comfort and are different ends of the spectrum. Holiday Inn is between the two but closer to Comfort. So let’s get this straight before comparing to poly DVC, which is also a timeshare.

I have stayed or visited loved ones in all types recently . They are nothing alike in themes. I mean in comparing the 3 brands as well as Polynesian

As I mentioned, I have stayed at about 100 different Marriott properties over the last 15 years. The theming in the Poly is absolutely nothing like the bland theming in a Marriott.

Even going to bed at same hours we still like space. But we did a studio once with a baby. Never again 🤣

Here is my take. We probably should not pretend Holiday Inn is anymore than it is. And we should recognize that Marriott is in fact a full service, upper-upscale hotel chain...which means it is no slouch. But comparing it to a timeshare, which is what Poly DVC is, is kinda comparing apples to oranges. Maybe a better comparison is comparing Poly DVC to Hilton Grand Vacations and Marriot Vacation Club. At least then you are comparing timeshare to timeshare. If Poly DVC is going to lose, at least let it lose to others in its own segment. :hilarious:

Are you comparing this to the new Poly tower?

I completely agree that with little kids, the Poly isn't necessarily the best choice for a stay. Doesn't mean it's any less of a resort. It's just the 2 of us for most visits as our kids are grown and married. If we take one of them, we get a 2 bedroom. With both families, a grand villa. I would never think of staying at the Poly with us and the kids.

The Marriott rooms I have seen are also vastly different than Comfort Inn. I tend to stay in more in between to Marriott types and none have ever been like the Polynesian. I might say BLT was closer in theme to some but so not Polynesian. Comfort Inn is nothing like Marriott though IMO

I will agree that BLT is closer in theme to a Marriott. We have stayed there once, and won't again. Just not our style at all.
