It's a cute little Instagram promo. Fine. But monothingie has a point. Why bother with the construction getup when there were no shots of anything, even in the background, no quick interviews with actual Imagineers? Not even a "look at this!"

It was informative only to the extent that her script and the concept art did the work for her. The CP tie-in is irrelevant and serves only to suggest (to intelligent viewers anyway) that she has, in fact, very little to do with the actual construction of this project.
It's PR to show that work is ongoing. Again, EVERYONE does this. Cedar Point has 4 episodes so far on the construction of the new roller coaster. Some the guy has safety gear, others not. If I had to guess, safety gear is absolutely required by their HASP to enter any areas. It's nothing. Again, I think you are reading way too much into this.

I know, I know. It's a cute promo. Just wishing for something better, that's all.

Lets go though the laundry list of what's wrong this.

First, it is a scripted PR post. That's what the intention of the video is. They aren't filming a work in progress/in place video for the general public.

Second, why in the world would you do filming in and around active construction? There is no reason to take that even slight risk that something goes wrong during filming, or something gets caught on camera that shouldn't be.

Third, who do you think Disney is going to have do a PR video talking to the public about an upcoming Disney location, someone what works for Disney, that will stay on script and who likely has had some schooling/training, in PR/Public speaking/communications, ect., or some laborer who may or may not actually work for Disney, but rather an independent contractor and who's job it is to build things, not film commercials?

Fourth, "dirty PPE?" Seriously? I mean leaving aside the fact that this project is basically a remodel, your not doing heavy concrete pours, working with slurry, or other materials that should really "dirty" up PPE and that the project hasn't been ongoing all that long such that most of the PPE should still be in good shape, the person who is doing the video is clearly not a front line worker. Any guest to a project site is going to get new PPE as a standard practice, filming or not and if she happens to have her own for when she does visit sites, its not likely that its going to be banged up.

I mean at this point your just complaining to complain.
I think some of Disney's social media videos (such as this one) come off slightly more like a commercial for a technical institute rather than an actual informative video (aside from her telling the viewer where she standing in the lounge).

The vague hand gestures to make it appear she is directing a crew of workers or showcasing design elements are bitt too scripted (IMO). It's not any different than millions of other social media "get to know me" type of posts. And there's nothing wrong with that. But it is Disney imagineering and something with a little more zing and pep would be appealing.

I aslo don't think every Disney post/video should be over the top magic in your face either. In the end, its a social media post. Not an attempt to win an academy award.

Since GIPHY doesn't have what I want ("You'll get nothing and like it!"), I'll settle for this.

Parks fans - "We want to see updates on what's being built!!"

Disney - *puts out fluff videos with no content* "There you go!!!"

There’s also just the big problem that the public image of Walt Disney Imagineering is highly romanticized. You go back and watch the interested stuff and it is a lot of the same few people summarizing years of work down to minutes. It’s a punchy highlight real focused on the sexiest aspects of the company.

A lot of these videos are trying to highlight roles beyond creative director because a lot more people work on these projects than a lot of other media might have you believe. A big challenge though is that a lot of the day-to-day stuff, even for those sexy roles like creative director, aren’t very interesting. Then they do something like this where they try to make a role like producer more interesting by filming in the field, but it’s not really a field role nor is it a design role so it comes across feeling a bit off.

It amazes how long it takes WDW to do anything.

For example the facade in DHS, the broken façade of Keystone Clothiers has been broken since 2022 and covered with green plywood. It seems that they are now trying to fix it maybe.

A unverified rumor, the cannons in Rise in Disneyland has finally been fixed and the rumor was that they were waiting YEARS for replacement parts? If this is true, its a terrible design and why were there no spare parts in house?

I have worked in manufacturing and building spares was always part of the process.

I understand Disney does not want to spend an extra penny when not necessary in their theme park business, but some if what we see is hard to understand.

Exactly. Did this person even state her role in the project? Did she say, "producer" anywhere? (I can't stomach another view, myself.)
