New Parks

When I went to AK the first year it was open, I was VERY disapointed. I left only after 3 hours because I had done everything alreay. I was expecting there to be tons of attractions but there weren't...and there STILL aren't. On top of that, the layout is very confusing as you are walking. Not the layout in general but trying to figure out where you are has always been a pain. The over grown trees are beautiful but I get so frustrated because I can't see anything else. I really wished they would have held off openning AK for a few years until they could have put in more attractions. But I believe they wanted to open before IOA.

I still go to AK but only for a few hours because they still don't have many attractions.

Opening another park right now IMO would kill the others financially. Better off finishing the ones they already have.

DAK did open as 1/2 a park, but you still came and visited. Since you live in Michigan, WDW did not depend on you to come back 2 or 3 times in 1998 to visit. They opened a new park, and just by opening the park, you came and visited. This works in Florida, but would not work in a park more dependent on locals and repeat visitation, like DCA.

(Also, you are so right about the layout of DAK, it is somewhat better now that the new EE bridge is open, but the overall layout and flow of the park is very poor. The fact the CMM only has one way in and out, and that DLUSA was this way before not too long ago is just bad planning).

someone said earlier that Disneys California Adventure has 3 new attractions planned? Can someone tell me about these? I havent heard anything. Please dont use appreviations, they suck and are hard to read (Ex. MS DCA WDW)
Take some extra time to write out the whole thing.

Thanks!!!

Well, from what I see, Animal Kingdom is a variation of the Hub concept of Disneyland. And Disneyland originally had only 1 entrance to each land. You had to travel back to the hub to get to another land. But it is still good that there are walkways outside Discovery Island. It's now a lot easier to get to Dinoland. (I wonder if anything will replace Tarzan in the near future)

1) Disney's Block Party Bash, a new parade for Cali Adventure premiering May 5, 2005 featuring the characters from all PIXAR movies; it will go all around Golden State, making stops for special street parties involving hundreds of guests--it promises to be a blast

2) Unannounced D-Ticket to replace Superstar Limo--likely some sort of dark ride, only much more inspired than Superstar Limo was. Opening late 2007/early 2008

3) Huge E-Ticket where the X-Games stadium was last summer, likely for the Golden State. It is said to not be a thrill ride and not have a height requirement, however (much like our favorite E-Rides, Pirates, the Haunted Mansion, etc). Opening late 2007/early 2008.

It's a bright future for Cali Adventure!

It is a poor variation :D

The paths at DAK are pretty narrow, which leads to more congestion. Also, they wind around a lot, and the signage was not great at the beginning.

Tarzan Rocks seems very out of place in Dinoland...should be in Africa.

It's been said in a couple of places that there was a design kicking around for "Miss Piggy's Superstar Limo" that may happen now that Disney offically owns the Muppets outright. The "not a thrill/no height req." thing sounds like a Pirates/HM dark ride, as you postulated - and I can't think of what property they could put in there...besides the "Muppets" as well.

I'm sure it's just wishful thinking on my part, but two Muppet rides would get me to DCA...and that's about the only thing I can think of that would get me back. The only reason I visited once was because I was in the area and really couldn't not visit the newest Disney park. Except for "Soarin' Over Cali" there was absolutely nothing else for me to do there - but Muppets would get me to book a flight ASAP. :)

Obviously, I'd rather see the Muppets at MGM where they belong. It would be following a trend though if the "Muppet" dark rides made it to DCA before MGM - all of the attractions originally slated for the 2nd phase of MGM that have actually been built have ended up in other parks.

MGM really needs another dark ride - I hope that after the stunt show is up that will be next on the MGM development agenda.

I really enjoy the narrow paths though. Really helps with the theming. If it were all wide and open, the park would not even be half as exciting. I can't wait to see what the park will be like on its 50th. Just imagine how big the trees will be covering the paths. Guests will truely get lost.

If this is anything like Western River, I'll actually go to DCA.

I am not saying the narrow paths are bad, the park initially was not designed well to have such narrow paths. With the additions of Asia and the new walkway, it is no longer so congested.

I have to agree with the peopl who don't want to see a new park for a while. Sure it would be nice to see DisneySeas in WDW, but I want to see the 4 parks they have now be as good as that. Animal Kingdom has so much potential to it. It is huge, beautiful, and underdeveloped. I would much rather see the money put in to making that park the spectacular place it should be. When I look at AK and DisneySeas I really don't see that many differences. Both parks really have the same idea. They are both incredible places...but DisneySea wasn't built half finished. Just imagine if AK had the attraction numbers it should have. It would be just as good as DisneySea (in my opinion anyway). I can't see a 5th gate opening until the 4 gates they have are as perfect as they can be. Besides the MK (and Epcot is getting there) there are a lot of possibilities to be had in the Disney theme parks. The studios and Animal Kingdom could be much better places if money and ideas were just put in to them.

I could not agree more I want to see the existing parks brought up to the level of themeing and detail that Disney Seas and Disneyland Paris are at.

Western River Expedition? In a word: yuppers, that is one of the E-Ticket front-runners.

I read some place that WRE would be too large for DCA, and would block views into the park from the expensive hotel rooms would be blocked.

I have no opinion on this, I am not too familier with the whole thing.

well, they could always modify the concept to fit California Adventure, and just follow the same general story. Disneyland also has a keen ability for building things up to 40 feet underground :)

WRE would be cooler 40 feet underground. The ride is themed to load in a Canyon.

I never noticed this at WDW's Space Mountain but it is completly above ground. It is just that the berm is on the side facing that making that one side not seem very high to the slope, but on the other side, the blue wall goes up and down what seems to be 50 feet.

I was referring to Disneyland's Space Mountain. It is about 30 feet underground so as to not dwarf Sleeping Beauty Castle. Soarin' Over California is also about 30 feet underground, as is Pirates of the Caribbean. The Haunted Mansion is at least partially about 15 feet underground.
