New Park?

So none of you are intrested in a new park? Why are you putting your two cents on this thread then? I'm sure you could start a thread involving how you know more than everyone else. Maybe a thread about how much you like to stomp on what other people like to talk about.

Who said they're not interested in a new park? I'd LOVE a new park. Doesn't mean it's going to happen any time soon.

And to add on to what everyone else has already stated. Parks are only added when demmand proves so or when their is a fierce competition threat that could pose a dangerous problem to the attendance figure or overall profit. Magic was made to satisfy Walt's dream of a "world" not in the middle of a city. Also. the theme park industy was at a strong point at that time which allowed for the expansion. EPCOT was added to attempt to come close to one of Walt's dreams (although the original idea was nothing like the turnout) and to give the idea that Walt Disney World was a one-of-a-kind area. MGM-Studios was quickly made in response to the threat posed by the at the time new Universal Studios park. And Animal Kingdom was opened in a response to Universal's Islands of Adventure. There are no major threats to Disney's attendance/prophit by new parks (the new SeaWorld park or whatever it may be must not be accepted as much of a threat) and the current parks could use some improvement ecspecially MGM (besides Sunset Blvd.). Another reason why there wouldn't be another new park in America soon is because the Theme Park economy post 9/11 in the U.S. began to sink. Also look at the closer of many SixFlags parks. The main area of the Theme Park industry is located in Asia right now, DisneyLand Tokoyo, DisneySea, andHong Kong Disneyland are all examples why. I have read of several people mentioning another major park in Asia that would be built soon but lets NOT get into a discussion about that in this thread. This just shows that one of Disney's close rivals (physically, not economically) must pose a strong threat and the Economy must be able to support a new park before one would be added.

pop century says it all

Incomplete hotels, rides in disrepair, more dvc villas being built and a can't miss promotion every year say it all. Disney is going to squeeze every dime out of what they have for a while. Can't wait for Lady and the Tramp 7 to hit the dvd store. At least the Pirates films are awesome. On the other side though-WDW is the greatest place on earth still and always! May 28-June 8 next visit. Just in time for year of a billion magical wishes remembering the magic! :ROFLOL:

I do understand your points.

So now it's clear Disney won't have a new park until competition.. but say a huge SuperPark plopped right next to Disney. What theme would Disney's next park be?!?! Just suggestions...?

Disney is in a good position right now - They have no need to build a new park, and there is no one that is currently positioned to take guests away from Disney World.

Universal thought they had their niche with a thrill park, and we all know how Islands of Adventure struggled. Sure IOA has attractions like Spiderman, but it also has a cheesy flume ride in Dudley do right, and a themeless coaster in the Incredible Hulk.

SeaWorld is opening a new park, and does anyone here think it will take away from DisneyWorld's attendance? The only reason Disney would have to build a new park is if their own parks become too successful, too crowded, and that's probably 10-15 years away.

I don't see this new park taking away from Disney's attendance/overall profit, so Disney probaly wouldn't do a whole lot to respond to this. No new rides/shows predicted in the future that would show that they are woried at all.

I'm not sure I'd call Seaworld's new endeavor a "new park." It's a new waterpark in a reasonably saturated market. I'm not sure how successful it will be, even if well-themed. Seaworld doesn't have the 10s of thousands of rooms on property to fill the waterpark that WDW has. Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon need not worry...if anything, it may convince Disney to add a new slide to Blizzard Beach or something--hardly a big expense. Even Joe's local amusement park in the middle of no where can afford a waterpark these days...

There is a rumor where I live, Mobile AL, that the country's second largest theme park is to be built alongside the already approved and started NASCAR race park. While NASCAR is not yet officialy involved (they don't commit until the facility is completed) big names such as Dale Jr and others are involved. The theme park part of it is very likely to become a reality. I am wondering if Disney would be tied up in the project at all ( think DTD and themed hotels as have been mentioned in press releases.).

I agree Sea World won't steal people away from Disney, you shouldn't bet against their success. Sea World did a great job with Discovery Cove and it's my understanding that the new water park will limit how many people that can come in to make sure the lines are short. That has always been my biggest gripe at water parks is that you wait is so long for the rides you are dry by the time you get to ride the next one.

They may be, but I think it's unlikely. Now, I'm no expert on this stuff by any means, but I don't think they would want to offer their brand so close to WDW. I could be wrong, but I just don't see them doing this.

Agreed, however wouldn't you want to tap the best of the best as a resource if you are sinking that kind of $$ into a project? I know I am doing a LOT of wishful thinking here, but what Rasulo said kinda makes sense for this project here.

I am a blue sky kina guy!

Six Flags

I think if disney were to make another park outside of florida they should Just buy Six Flags Great Adventure . Dont flame em let me explain myself.

IF you look at Great Adventures Layout it is basically set to be a disney park.

There is already a mainstreet. They can replace the dolphion stadium with a castle of some sort. There is already 1200 acres to play around with and a lake.

The Safari can be turned into a mini animal kingdom . Also there is the water park.

I think Disney can spend less money to just buy great adventure or make some sort of agreement with six flags on the park.

Dont flame me on this. i think it could really work out. Also remember they now sell disney merchandise at that park anyway .
