It didn’t even take 5 years.5 years too long

It didn’t even take 5 years.
Dude they announced it in 2011. Im not talking about from point of construction. Get your facts
Don’t let facts get in the way of negativity!Pandora was not announced in 2011. A partnership between Disney and Cameron to bring avatar to the parks was announced in late 2011. Pandora itself was not announced until late 2013. Construction began at the beginning of 2014. The land opened in the first half of 2017. It was roughly 5.5 years from deal announcement to the land opening and roughly 3.5 years from the land being announced to the land opening and slightly over 3 years of construction.

Announcement is very different from when they started constructionEh, no. They announced an Avatar land was coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom in 2011.
Was Galaxy’s Edge not announced until 2017?

The announcement of the avatar deal in 2011 is the equivalent to the Star Wars purchase in 2012.
You could disagree, but that doesn’t change the facts. Announcing that the deal has been made and actually being ready to build something are very different things. Let alone knowing what you intend to build.I would highly disagree, as when they purchased Star Wars in 2011, they didn’t gain theme park rights and didn’t announce an actual land coming to a specific park. I know that Avatar’s announcement was at a much earlier point in the process, but it doesn’t change the fact that they literally announced it in 2011. If you took a poll of wdwmagic members and asked them when the land was announced, you’d get a pretty unanimous 2011.
“Disney’s Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney World Resort is planned as the site of the first AVATAR-themed land with construction expected to begin by 2013.” - DPB, 2011

Even your DPB quote from 2011 clearly says that the land will not start construction until 2013. It’s a forward looking statement about how they intend to use the property and when.
Yes. You are going in circles. Now back to Epcot and the new entranceWe’re going in circles, all I’ll say is you have a very bizarre and borderline incorrect definition of announcement that most would disagree with. They didn’t just announce that the deal has been made, they announced that an Avatar land was coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom, fact.
They announced that a deal had been made and that animal kingdom was planned to be the home of the first land based on avatar. But at that time they did not know specifically what or even where it would be. They also specifically said that construction would not begin for another couple years. They knew they needed time to plan and design. The announcement was about the intent to build. It would not be appropriate to start the clock at that point if discussing how long it took to build pandora. We’re going in circles, all I’ll say is you have a very bizarre and borderline incorrect definition of announcement that most would disagree with. I don't think he is incorrect. I think he is very much correct. We’re going in circles, all I’ll say is you have a very bizarre and borderline incorrect definition of announcement that most would disagree with. Now that’s two who are incorrect.I don't think he is incorrect. I think he is very much correct.
Or...Now that’s two who are incorrect.
Counting how long it takes to build something from the moment of announcement is just crazy.
If the CV crisis puts off a Mary Poppins attraction for seven years, do you then say it took seven years to build it?
When USO finally announces their Jurassic World coaster, do you then say it took only two months to build it because they waited that long to announce it?
The only way to compare apples to apples is the time that they first broke ground. Pandora took 3.5 years to build from ground breaking.
Though... some like to round that up to 4 years... even though they round down the 2.5 years it took to build a Potter Land to just two years. They then say it took Disney two more years to build Pandora than Universal took to build Potter. In fact, it wasn't a two year difference, but just one.
