PS, not a huge fan, but has some good before, during, and after footage to show the change:
Planters are being shrunk down, trees kept, and flattening continues.
I think this is the best outcome we could hope for, as this work is extremely necessary.
Forgot to mention that light post! That solo standing one looks super awkward! Is there more then one like that? Does that mean that we lost entire planters? Ugh. I was prepared to lose the stairs and I was ok with it for the functionality in that regard. But losing entire planters, awkward light posts and losing the bricks. This is quickly turning out worse that I thought. Looks really wide open and we lost detail and greenery. Downgrade indeed.
Yeah, looks like there are two light posts in that space. Ugh.
I'm trying to withhold judgment until the entire project is complete; after all, this is only a small space in front of French Market Restaurant. And again, the area really, really needs crowd flow assistance. But aesthetically speaking, it perhaps doesn't bode well (IMO) that they made the light posts into eyesores and didn't think to include pavers.
Visited the park last night. Walked through the revamped space in front of French Market Restaurant at about 11:30pm, when no one was around. It seemed different in an uncanny sort of way, but there really is nothing objectively wrong with what they've done. Unlike some of the more awkward alterations to the park in recent years, this feels like it could've always been this way (in this small space, at least). Obviously if the finished product is a cement wasteland, I'll reassess this judgment.
I maintain the light posts look strange.
It looks like the new ground is unthemed cement? That's a step backwards if there ever was one.
Just about everywhere else in the park has themed flooring.
Still don’t understand why they couldn’t add the brick pavers back. That’s just a “we don’t care enough” move
Is this a seasonal offering or does it seem to be permanent? That's the sort of thing I would definitely try if it was still around later in the summer.Passionfruit Mint Julep

It'll be interesting to see how many of the changes the park has made from 2019 onwards look and feel in person after hearing about all of them for the past four years.
I tried the watermelon lemonade the last time I was at DCA at your recommendation and it was really good. Would've been great to have it while walking around a bug's land in the shade.I think it’s seasonal. With that said, Passionfruit sounds like more of a summer thing so I wouldn’t be shocked if they kept it around until the end of Summer. They re big on doing seasonal foods and drinks right now. Not just Christmas and Halloween anymore. Even Spring and Summer are getting in on the action. In some cases in conjunction with the food festivals.
This and the watermelon lemonade at Smoozies took me by surprise. I usually find these things overly sweet but these two were pretty good. Still a little sweet but more balanced.

I was there yesterday. Definitely a downgrade. There are three of those free standing light posts if Im not mistaken. I want to say that one of them was in a planter/staircase that was completely removed and the other two were part of a staircase that went up to the top tier level in the area. They look weird. Brick pavers are gone. I hope they are done with the flattening and they leave the level overlooking the pathway closest to the ROA alone. A fair amount of charm will be kept if they do that.
The changes don’t look terrible in person obviously as you are always taking so much in at the parks to draw your attention elsewhere but definitely can be felt. Still don’t understand why they couldn’t add the brick pavers back. That’s just a “we don’t care enough” move like the new Home Depot Frontierland gate and it’s bothersome.
Also what the heck did they do to the music in the Splash Mountain queue? It’s like generic Frontierland(?) music now? Removing ZADD from the music loops at the resort is bad enough but to remove the music from the ride you are about to go on is next level ridiculous. And yet I keep giving these people my money.
On another note the new Passionfruit Mint Julep is refreshing and delicious. Beignets were as soft as ever.
Went to the Enchanted Tiki Room last night for the first time in a 3 or so years. Still hate what they did to the waiting area. It used to feel like you were in some tucked away nook. It’s just too wide open and bare now. A lot of these operational changes mess with the atmosphere of the park. I understand some of them are necessary but I think they can do a better job.
Wait, they changed the Splash queue music?
Yeah
That's actually really sad to hear. That queue loop is my favorite.
Yeah it’s so obnoxious
