New nighttime show 'Rivers of Light' confirmed to be coming to Disney's Animal Kingdom

Interesting. I had a completely different experience in March. Fourteen of us saw it, and every single person loved it. Two or three said it was the night time show they enjoy the most (and we saw all 5). While we were making our way out of the theater, we chatted with random people, and it got rave reviews.
Always lots of different opions, which is expected with any demographic, but I was a huge fan and will see it once or twice on every vacation.

Same. My showing was well received and guests seemed to really love it. Interesting mix. Seems some either love it or hate it.

And as someone who listens to the soundtrack quite often I COMPLETELY disagree about the music @tirian . That seems to be the least of it's problems, but to each their own, not at all discounting what you heard from fellow guests. The music is wonderful to me.

Same here. I really loved the show. After our Pandora AP preview on May 17th, we will be going to a RoL show. Actually, come to think of it, we will be spending our entire day at DAK. Who'd a thunk it? A whole day of experiences in DAK.

Also the soundtrack to Rivers of Light is very good, I'd put it just behind Reflections of Earth's soundtrack.

Well, they are practically the same soundtrack in certain areas. "We go on" and "We are one" is the same tune. And probably purposefully so. One is about the progress of humanity to live in peace and the other about our unity with the rest of non-human life.

Err, no it isn't... the only similarity is that the lyrics are "we ___ ___"

I have been wanting to write another review for this show since I have now watched it on two separate occasions in two very different weather conditions.

The first time I saw this back in March the night was completely still with absolutely no wind. The show was beautiful with all of the projections being crystal clear and the large water jets in the background forming a perfect arch.

On May 17th I had a chance to see the show a second time. It was after a day where we were in DAK the entire day, with part of it spent visiting Pandora, with lunch at Tiffins. We thought that this would be the perfect "kiss goodnight" as it were for this day and this park.

Well, when we sat down I noticed how windy it was and knew immediately that there would be problems. And that is simply an understatement for what transpired. Pretty much NONE of the projects worked at all. Many times we were staring at images that were completely indiscernible. And the large water jets in the background weren't even close to connecting, rendering all of the images blurry and in some cases incomplete. For the last portion of the show, the large lotus effect wasn't even attempted. The tower that rises up with fire remained down, and well…there was no fire at all.

The show was abysmal and a complete failure. I felt bad for the performers on the boats as the applause in the end was scattered and somewhat forced as most observers were probably thinking "that was it?".

I like to be fair on these forums as I devote a lot of time reading and posting here. I am certain that many may be of the opinion that I fall into the "pixie duster" category, especially when it comes to DAK. I really don't care so much, as I always emphasize that my Disney craze started in 2009, so a lot of what people use as comparisons I cannot as I never visited "back in the day". If I see something that is bad, however, or something that I don't agree with, I will definitely post about it. In this case, I have to pull back on my initial love for this show. You CANNOT have your big nighttime show - a show that you are selling dining packages with and fast passes - that is good only if the weather is cooperating. That is a big FAIL in my book. RoL is beautiful in concept, yes, but if it is not repeatable on a consistent basis, then Disney needs to go back to the drawing board on this one. You can't have your main nighttime show be a roll of the dice.

In all honesty, it was probably the worst show performance I have seen thus far. They need to either figure out how to fix it, or start working on a new show while this one is running.

My experience was in the middle of bad to good. Projections could be seen for the most part and the audience had a good reaction but there was no denying wind impacted the water screens on my night. Something should be done. It's got great music and nice floats and the potential is there ...

Now that the show has been running for a little while, what has guest feedback been? @MansionButler84 ?
As far as I know, it is "good, not great." A grade of B, if you will. That was viewed as good-enough as they need a nighttime show in operation with Pandora. If not for that requirement, I suspect it still wouldn't be open. I can't see the reviews as giving them an excuse to never fix it as some feared. When they get to it is another issue altogether.

About what I expected. Thank you!

We were at Tiffins during our Pandora visit. I was asking the wait staff how the restaurant was performing. They said during the first year they were looking at 300 advanced reservations so many months out. After RoL debuted, that number immediately vaulted to over 700. With Pandora opening, it jumped to over 1200 advanced reservations. A high quality nighttime show in that space is important to this park, if advanced dining packages are any indication.
