New nighttime show 'Rivers of Light' confirmed to be coming to Disney's Animal Kingdom

Not that this will happen, at all. If anything this next statement is purely armchair imagineering.

Based on what I have heard both through execs, forum partakers (you guys), and people I have seen the show with, one of the best things they could do would be to scrap the main lotus for a fifth smaller lotus for the dance, and then have a new, larger finale float that arrives during Aurora Borealis, and morphs during Constellations. That is completely different from the lotuses, or any other floats.
I know this is just armchair but would fire or Pyro be on the finale float?

Did not see Iger tonight, but I'm almost positive I saw Chapek sitting in the section beside me during the first showing. Overall, the show looked excellent! Also, if you are not able to get fastpasses, don't worry, the standby section almost never fills up during the second showing (at least that is what I was told by a few cast members). I was able to go into the standby section and get a great seat 5 minutes before the second showing tonight.

His role in the show has been greatly exaggerated online. He saw it during the cast previews, and like everyone, made some comments, but nothing that caused any major changes or issues. I would expect his viewing today will be similar.

I always wonder why he was so involved in World of Color, to the point where the whole show had to be redone at his request.

Iger was there for the first show

The brass wasn't primarily there for the RoL though. They were there to get a progress report last night over in the land of the blue people (I'll get my own this weekend, yay!) Hope to see RoL a few more times this weekend. I really WANT to like the show (the wife is bonkers for it) but it's just not what I thought it could be. I don't need fireworks, I don't even need working projection screens (since it looks like they're content to leave those as is, in a lesser state than was intended)- but I would like to have a better flow and I would really love an impressive finale.

My wishlist:
- Bring back the parade and have it start the show
- Have the Shaman's introductions before they set off
- Rework the silly "tiger" interlude, it just wrecks the flow right now
- Make sure both sides get to see each Shaman and all of the animal floats up close
Sad thing is, those are all things that were already supposed to happen before they gave up on trying to fix the positioning/timing :(

Magic feather is totally right on the large lotus. I'd prefer to see another small one that can interact with the others. For the finale, I'm still pulling for something like Braviseamo's firebird (as mentioned before).

For anyone who hasn't at least seen a youtube, I'd suggest you watch it if you'd like to see Disney's biggest/most impressive night-time "float" (though it was in a pit like Maleficent, it came right out of the water). It was massive and downright scary if you were watching from near the Fortress. Sure, movements were slow and drawn out and I don't know if I'd base an entire show around him like TDS did- but that's some seriously impressive stuff, even more so in person. I'd love to see something like that in this show even on a smaller scale. And by the way, if elements of Rivers of Light go over peoples head, I'd hate to see what happened if they watched Braviseamo. ;)

I think it's actually a really good kickoff for We Are One and the Owl moment is also really nice. It helps section off those parts of the sequence and makes the structure of traveling through the Animal Spirit's different realms read better.
The problem is that they didn't give little moments like those to the animals in the middle. As I've mentioned before, the Turtles get a good intro for the ocean section in by swooping down in a herd, but Big Red and Little Red are just kinda standing there in the middle of a savanna with other animals for a few seconds before the big cat chase scene starts.

I think something that would have helped the ending is if instead of static lanterns of animals, when the animal floats return at end they became fully animated animal lanterns.

The fire tower is cool, but we need something more, something we haven't really seen yet. Imagine if the lanterns turned back on, came forward, then burst to life with motion and movement.

BlogMickey's multiangle video's one of the strongest I've seen online now. Like seeing Fire Boat's reactions to the big cat chase and Aseema releasing the owl.

Splitscreen edit could really be cool to see in the future.

Wow that video finally showed me all the details I was missing. It almost made me cry, this show is so beautiful. The Shaman's choreography and spirit truly fills me with this happiness we all desperately need with the way our current global climate is going. What an uplifting, wonderful show.

Does anyone know how wheelchair accessible seating is handled? My FP window opens in a week (!!!), and I'm trying to figure out if a RoL FP will be helpful or a waste of a FP. Are all of the wheelchair seating areas in the back of the theater? Do they fill up quickly? I know that I've gotten FPs in the past that ended up not being necessary due to how some attractions accommodate a wheelchair.

I saw the show for the first time on Tuesday. I wish I could see what was fully imagined... I absolutely love the feel of the show, it just doesn't pack much of a punch.

I haven't had the pleasure of seeing the show yet, so I'm not 100% positive. I do know that the theatre is split up between FastPass, Dinner Package, and Standby and wheelchair seating like everything else will be first come first serve. From personal experience I would say plan on arriving early to get a more "central" seat. Even with Fast pass and Dinner package only so many places are allotted by whatever the capacity is deemed and those who arrive first will still get the better seats.

I can't speak on if there is a ramp or what not to get to the front but I do know a majority (or all) wheelchair seating is at the top (back) of the theatre to avoid the use of stairs.

Don't know if this helps or not. I would say get a Fast Pass just for the security of a more central seat, and if someone can chime in before your trip make adjustments accordingly.

The entire length of the first row on both theater sides is reserved for wheelchair guests and their parties. I've been to 4 or 5 shows now and never seen it fill up, on either side.

I enjoyed the show, caught it on Tuesday night. Seemed too short, I would have liked to have seen a little more. I am embarrassed to admit that I didn't even realize that there was a storyline to it. Perhaps I missed some subtleties, I was in the FP+ seating on the Asia side, about as far to the right as you could go. The visuals were lovely. I'd see it again, but only through FP+, I saw that the standby line opened for my viewing like, 2.5 hours early.

I caught it tonight. Interesting to say the least. The pre show music and lotus floating 5 minutes prior was more interesting. The show itself is a borefest. Probably one of the worst i have seen outside of Jungle book. To its credit, the visuals are amazing but that is pretty standard at Disney. I did like the floating animals but there seems to be something missing from the overall show. The finale, there is none. We sat there for about 2 minutes until the cms said goodnight lol. No one clapped, it was very faint. I am glad i saw it tonight, i do not need to see it again. Waste of time, period. I feel let down after looking forward to this since it was announced. I understand its a metaphorical show, it's horrible

Crazy question: If this show is the must see at WDW, why isn't it being offered every night instead of four days per week? I'm looking forward to the show the next time we are down in FLA.
